    Which Enclosure?

I was actually just wondering if moving a gravid female would be detrimental or not. Perhaps it would be better to just get a pair and do the breeding myself? Do you have any brands of enclosure you prefer? I'm not very handy or I'd just make my own. I've seen some stunning forest vivariums...

    Which Enclosure?

Thank you for your reply! Them hiding is why I wanted to do a planted tank so I'd still have something to look at when they're not out and about, rather than just an empty looking enclosure like with my Ts. As for the lid, that I'm unsure of. I've watched a few videos and it doesn't seem to have...

    Which Enclosure?

I'm going to be picking up a gravid heterometrus longimanus in the near future and cannot decide which enclosure I should go for. This will be my first scorpion and project like this. I want to do a live, planted vivarium that will be eye catching as a display, but also suitable for a group. I...

    Hisser Display Ideas

Ok, so I'm really interested in making a nice display terrarium for my two adult Madagascar hissers. My question is, how practical would either a planted terrarium or a terrarium that appears planted (fake plants) be for them as far as cleaning goes. I'd love to emulate their natural...

    Unexpected Mantids (Need help)

Ya know...I have grown attached to one in particular  That one may end up staying :hilarious:

    Unexpected Mantids (Need help)

They've been doing great so far! I've only lost one, and it was the worst off when I found them. I've been cataloging their progress and I'm releasing them once the weather is warm again. It's dropping to nearly freezing at night again :meh: The worst off ones (about 6) will stay until molting...

    Unexpected Mantids (Need help)

I've placed them all in cups with a some paper towel and a stick each. I found some tule I had lying around and elastic banded it over the top. I found a place that sells fruit flies the next day, so I drove the hour and got them. They're all eating as far as I can tell and I do lightly mist...

    Unexpected Mantids (Need help)

Excuse my limited mantid knowledge, but I need help! I have come into possession of a mantis egg sack. The hatched babies were dangling from the sack, but the high winds we had spun them all around and entwined the strands that they hang from as they "harden up" and their legs into a huge mess...

    Hissing Cockroaches (sexing)

Well thank you! I don't really mind having babies, but I know the SO won't be thrilled. If he'd ever notice anyway  Well here you go! The first is the male, and the second is his possible girlfriend. I'm impressed you can sex a nymph! They're so tiny :jawdrop:

    Hissing Cockroaches (sexing)

Well great. :arghh: I was so sure they were both female as they've looked entirely the same up until now. The two pictures are the same cockroach, just a week between the two. Maybe I'll be lucky and the other one will decide to sprout horns as well :meh:

    Hissing Cockroaches (sexing)

This might be a long shot, but I've had two hissing cockroaches for nearly a year now. I bought them as small adults under the assumption that they were both female, as I was told. Well, the older of the two just molted and looks like it's grown some sizable horns. I was hoping someone could...

    New LP!

That's the cutest things :hilarious: Love the names too! I haven't named the LP, but I went with Tarot for the little b.albo. I was wondering about molting frequency also! I knew they were fast growing, but wow :jawdrop: I definitely look forward to it!

    New LP!

So...my LP sling arrived yesterday!! Such a tiny thing, too. Also completely different than my little b.albo which immediately dug a burrow and hasn't come out since. The LP showed no interest in the little starter burrow and just hung out on the side. This morning I come out and looked over to...

    Typical Noob Question (Sorry)

Oh good! He worked so hard on his tunnels I would have felt bad just to have it go to waste. I did skip his feeding yesterday simply because I fell asleep, but had been giving one nightly. I'll slack off a bit! Thanks for all your help :D

    Typical Noob Question (Sorry)

Yes, it is! I don't have a hot glue gun at the moment, so should I just sit a larger container over it to be safe until I can go get one in the morning? I'd like to keep him in that just because he's spent so much time on all of his little tunnels :( But if he really would be better off in the...

    Typical Noob Question (Sorry)

Oh, he was shipped in one of those. I could just put him in there then! Oh yes, he's made a big burrow and cavern down at the bottom. Very active little thing!

    Typical Noob Question (Sorry)

The container was labeled for terrestrial so I figured it was ok :jawdrop: He's just a little thing. Maybe 1/2 inch or so.

    Typical Noob Question (Sorry)

So, while giving my b.albo sling his nightly pinhead lat for dinner, I somehow managed to stick my finger through the little mesh circle at the top of the enclosure. :banghead: I pushed the mesh back into the groove, and while I've never seen him anywhere outside his burrow, I'm entirely...

    Your dream tarantula...

I would have said an LP, but seeing as how I finally convinced the hubby to let me have more than one T and a sling will be here in a few days  ... G. Pulchra is next on my list!

    Maintenance Concerns

Oh yes, I despise mites. I've had to deal with them in almost every critter I've ever had, at some point or another. All of those were mammals, though. Such a pain to get rid of :banghead:
