My favorite is my Ephebopus cyanognathus. I have a couple Megaphobema robustum and a Cyriopagopus vonwirthi but they just don't do it for me for some reason. My blue fang is such a beauty, a true Mother of the Depths. The way she lies so still at the entrance and can disappear so quickly into...
I agree with cold blood. Brush off the wood, maybe rinse the leaves if you want. The recommended solutions for disinfecting wood are pretty ridiculous in my opinion and likely won't even work adequately.
My Lasiodora parahybana sling molted in under ten minutes a couple days ago. I was keeping an eye on it because I was expecting it to molt any time, and I left it alone for a few minutes while I went to another room. When I came back not even ten minutes later, it had already molted and was...
Thanks for that info, I recently made my first pet mart/co purchase of an Avicularia genus and it looks similar to a metallica, (the white tipped setae and "toes") and I have been skeptical. I won't be breeding it, as I never have, but I was curious as to what exactly it could be considering it...
This is surprising to me, actually. I am curious as to where they found their caretaker. I would gladly provide better enclosures out of my own wallet for these creatures, especially for a zoo. It's not even difficult to provide an aesthetic and functional enclosure for these species.
Definitely a good set of tarantulas. But P. regalis are not exactly small anyways if you are wanting a big spider. I have to say, my regalis is one of my favorites and definitely my fastest growing. Went from 1.5" to approx. 6+" from April 22 to Oct. 28. Beautiful creature, and has very apparent...
I would personally go with the P. regalis, if you're comfortable with old world tarantulas. Again, my personal opinion, but I prefer to keep non terrestrial species (arborial, fossorial). Especially if you've been wanting one.
Although if you've been interested in the other species offered, and...
I think the general rule is the enclosure should be around 3-4x the leg span for floor space, and the height should be 1-2x for a terrestrial.
I keep mine in very spacious enclosures compared to many keepers I've seen here though. Many using deli cups until adulthood.
It would be of great help...
I believe what @Ryanxgx95 was alluding to with the term 'deglove' is when the outer lying tissue gets taken off of something, much like taking a glove off of your hand. Google with caution.
Back when I had a C. cyaneopubescens, I had taken the top of her enclosure off to throw a cricket in, I grabbed the cricket, and when I looked back up at the enclosure, she was already halfway down the outside of her 10g tank. She was my first tarantula. I learned a lot from her.

I really like the aesthetic of that enclosure (and the area)
I wish there were still a Michael's in my area, but maybe Hobby Lobby has a container similar to that.
What did you end up putting in there?
Thank you, and yes, the light fixture is made by them. If I could easily build a nice decorative fixture, I would. I just can't see myself spending over $100 for an enclosure when I can set up a similar one myself for less than $30.
Hopefully my spider is just wandering or hunting, and not...
