Here's one of my juvenile widows I've had since she's was a sling. I've decided instead of using the "old" substrate with overcrowded sticks and scenery routine I would give her more of a flat area to lay her web and trip lines around and so far she seems to like it.
The only thing I've used is...
Go for it bro and post lots of pics for us too. They're stunning looking spiders. I would love to have one but they're like speedy gonzales and way too fast for me to catch.
Thank you for taking the time to reply guys.
She's still alive it's been 5 days now. She hasn't gotten worse but she hasn't exactly improved and returned back to normal yet. One thing's for sure, I won't be overfeeding them again.
I do hope she improves. I hate seeing her like this.
Hello everyone,
I'm in need of advice. For the past 4 days one of my widows (Red Back) has been acting strange. She's out of her web, on the floor and cannot move around much. This all happened after her last big meal. I have to admit, I have overfed her a bit.
Is she dying? I've had her for...
Whoa Atx512 mate those photos are brilliant. I wish I could take pics like that. Excellent home as well. That cricket is a goner haha.
I've recently cleaned out one of my terrariums and reduced my Red Back's home to a more "flat" area so that she can set her trip wires properly as she was...
I've been feeding my latro some cockroaches that I manage to catch in the yard at night. The thing is, we have cockroach baits in our home called "Mortein Nest Kill" that are designed for the cockroach to eat and take back to it's nest to kill all the other cockroaches. Can a spider eat a roach...
You guys have some serious photography skills and macro lenses happening. I'm going to upgrade my camera equipment soon too haha. For now, here's some Samsung Galaxy S6 camera action.
I have two Widows (Red Backs here in Sydney). Here's my new mama.
Hi guys,
I just had a look at my widow and her stomach has gone small. More than half of the size it was yesterday.
She has 5 egg sacs with her and a few slings are still hanging around in her web but they are really small.
Does any one have any idea what's going on with her belly?
PS: I feed...
Thanks for the info mate that's interesting. So if one of her babies is a Male and manages to survive and grow into an adult, would that male actually mate with it's own mother too? Haha
Hi fellas,
I'd like to know if it is possible to keep two female adult Red Back (Black Widow) spiders together in an enclosure.
I've currently got one female with 10 slings left in her enclosure plus a few sacs (the rest of the slings were released last week when I left the cover off outside...
Thanks fellas, this info is great.
I've loved spiders since I was young but I was hella paranoid of Red Backs/Widows as a kid because they looked pretty f*cken mean and we hardly saw any in Sydney back in the 80's so coming across one as a child would fascinate me but gave me the heeby jeebies...
I've been caring for a female Red Back for the past 5 weeks now and she's just had a second batch of slings.
As I was about to lightly mist her home with a bit of water, I carelessly didn't check the nozzle and it shot out a stream of water and wet her and some of the little boogers. Enough that...
