I have a G. rosea spiderling who molted recently, possibly within the last 2-3 days. Upon randomly checking in on him I noticed a strand(?) of exuvium is stuck on the pedicel! It’s definitely a thicker portion of exuvium than normal.
To the dismay of the spiderling, wetting the old exuvium...
I am on the Aspergers spectrum as well. As a woman though, have yet to meet other women “on the spectrum.” I am only considering getting at least a few of my animals “registered” for the exact same reasons you stated.
Does anyone have any experience (in the USA) with registering their tarantulas (or even other exotics, like reptiles) to be “emotional support animals?”
Would any living place where you rent be “allowed” to turn you away even if your spiders/inverts are registered as such?
That’s what confused me initially when trying to ID this spider. She looks so similar to D. crocata, except the for the faded black stripe on her abdomen and “shorter” chelicerae. I think Trachelas genus makes more sense, now that I’ve looked at other photos online.
Need positive ID (found in IL). Found this new friend crawling around work today…was super happy to see her (him?)! I’m thinking Dysdera crocata? I couldn’t get a good look at the chelicerae though.
We have family who lives down in this area and living is cheaper “down there” compared to where I am now…but it’s not the only option we are considering (maybe it’s the “best” option for us to consider atm); there are other personal reasons as well, which are not important for me to go into on...
I know that HOAs are “power hungry” and give people nothing but damn problems. I live in a house and the HOA in our neighborhood is run by a grumpy, mean, old man who is a total ____. I don’t talk to any of my neighbors so they have no clue what kinds or even “if” we have animals other than 1...
I’m going to be moving in less than 1 years time and “we” (me+my mother) are considering relocating to the St Louis area, Missouri. We need to downsize from a house to a much smaller home.
My issue is that me and my mother can’t afford a house and with her getting older, a condominium is our...
thanks for the extra info! I managed to move all of my spiders from Main bedroom to 2nd bedroom last night, tucked up against one corner of the room. I have taped plastic bags over the 2nd bedroom wall and ceiling vent.
Since Orkin Man will likely be spraying a liquid pesticide along the house...
Thanks for your response.
Unfortunately storing them in our garage won’t work because we have mice that “nest” there and they get into everything. Not risking it. We do have an outdoor shed in our backyard but that is “outdoor storage” only.
I managed to do a terrible job of taping a plastic...
Long story short, we have a minor infestation of carpet beetles in our downstairs dining room/front door/downstairs bathroom and it’s pretty much a sudden disaster. As in, we had to call an “exterminator” to come and spray these areas, as well as the outside perimeter of our house. This is today...
I really couldn’t get a good pic due to the glare of the plastic enclosure. I also don’t want to move his enclosure at the moment. The photo you see is the best I can get right now.
I don’t know what to do.
My Pamphobeteus molted probably
In the last 12-24 hours. I really only check on my “big spiders” once, maybe twice a week so as not to disturb them regularly.
I was refilling the water dishes of my animals weekly-like I usually do-and upon opening the lid to his...
I have a L. nigerrimum spiderling that molted probably last week. Visually she looks healthy “on the outside”...except for the fact that she doesn’t seem to have control of her limbs. This is new behavior that I haven’t seen in this specific spiderling and more than likely is a result of the...
I have a P. murinus spiderling lose both pedipalps (it was my fault 😞). Will she be able to still feed without any issues? I feed pre-killed anyway but I don’t know how difficult it will be for her to eat without her pedipalps. I feel really bad and would hate myself if she dies from being...
I’ll be going on vacation to Arkansas (Montgomery County) in early July. I know that Aphonopelma hentzi is common to the state. What kind of terrain will I be coming across in Montgomery County and what sorts of habitats should I be on the lookout for with regards to A. hentzi?
I’m interested...
I got “George-Henry” (GH) sold as “Thai Earth Tiger” from what I can remember. I got “him” with another wild-caught specimen, a female that was later identified as a C. vonwirthi. “He” looks different visually from my adult female C. vonwirthi (who is no longer living)...Help?
