I may as well not make another thread, so I'll just leave this here. Xenesthis immanis I received three days ago was found in a death curl this morning. I was surprised that it survived shipping given the stink when I opened the vial but was pleased to find it alive. Alas, it was thin & stressed...
They tend to eat things that arent much larger than themselves, ~1mm. Once they run out of things to eat they start munching on each other, are successfully used in snail keeping/breeding, even crawling inside the snails to get at the mites there before exiting again!
Stan Schultz has a...
Hypoaspis miles. Dirt cheap, considering. Will obliterate fungus gnats, springtails, harmful mites as well as nematodes, but eat mold in the absence of prey. Safe for Ts.
I've been periodically refreshing the etsy page & they're finally up, just snagged a sling box & a medium sized Terrarium, can't wait until they arrive! :woot:

I found a couple references to decreased lifespan when feeding vertebrates,
Pinkies and feeder lizards can be offered occasionally, but they are not designed to digest vertebrates as much, so they tend to make them obese and have a shorter life span. [1]
Keep in mind that overfed...
Now that I'm doing some research this is From the same member, a nice tutorial with recommended inhabitants. Tropical dwarf species seem to be preferred.
I recalled that there was a member who made gobstopping vivariums & kept spiders in some of them. They were all bioactive, with living plants & detritrivores, I would be curious if something similar could be safely accomplished without these elements.
I very much like the idea & bought a couple one gallon glass jars for some insects I intend to keep, but I don't know that I would consider keeping a spider in there unless I replaced the lid with something perforated. I would also expect your moss to be torn up & quickly covered with substrate...
I'm almost disappointed I didn't lose power so I could engage my emergency heating plan. I bought a 20 pack of Jumbo Uni-Heat 72 hour heat packs just in case this happened. Plan is to huddle enclosures together, tape off an area with mylar heat blankets & then activate as many as necessary to...
It's $95 on Amazon from the publisher, not a bad price considering. Thanks for the recommendation, didn't even know this existed & can't wait to read it!
:jawdrop: I have no interest in arboreals currently so I never looked into their care & only know what I read in TKG...thought this was legit! :shifty:
By my thinking it's not that one life is worth more than another but as lifeforms increase in complexity so do their responses to stimuli. Providing the same stimulus to different organisms results in different outcomes.
Take for example a dog. They only have the machinery to really pay...
Also, @Lunitar, custom orders. Like the same experience as when I buy a computer. Standardized enclosures ship immediately, custom work has lead time. A variety of enclosure options to choose from, options are à la carte: front vs top opening doors, feeding hatches, holes pre-drilled for wiring...
