    Saving a centipede?

I have another one I've been keeping for some time. I'm glad it pulled through, I was really expecting it to be dead when I got home today.

    Saving a centipede?

After a day in the back of my closet, it is now moving around normally :) I'll have to get a proper enclosure for it soon.

    Saving a centipede?

Here's a picture. I nudged its rear end when I went to take the picture, and it grabbed me with its terminal legs, uncurled its antennae and moved its head around a bit. Is the ICU I came up with okay? I have it covered with damp paper towels and only a little bit of ventilation. Should I move...

    Saving a centipede?

I found a small Polymorpha centipede on the floor of my house, it will still run when it's messed with but it's really sluggish. I'm guessing it's either dehydrated or poisoned, my parents had the living room sprayed. It was almost a year ago, but dead scorpions still show up every once in a...

    Rearing assassin bugs?

I have a wheel bug I've been keeping in a jar for a few weeks, and today I noticed egg glued to the side of the jar! Are they worth the effort to try and raise? I'm assuming they hatch after winter since they lay eggs during the fall, but I'm not sure how being in indoor temperatures will...

    Newbie Question Asian Black Forest

Mites aren't a big deal unless you start seeing a ton of them, springtails or some some other tank cleaner will help prevent them (they compete for the same food source). The type of substrate won't make a difference with them so much as keeping the tank free of rotting material (dead feeders etc.)

    Dream true spider?

Eresus walckenaeri. I just learned about them today and they're absolutely beautiful.

    Communal C. Vittatus Tank

Unfortunately this setup is no more, I broke a hole in the tank by accident. Luckily none got away, but they all crawled out one after another. I guess they could feel a difference in air currents? I'm assuming they're too blind to see a hole in glass. Anyways I have them in a large critter...

    What is your dream myriapod?

Currently: Scolopendra heros Out of my budget range/impossible: Scolopendra gigantea. I know they pop up for sale occasionally, but I don't think I'll ever be able to spend $350 on a centipede. I'd also only want to buy captive bred which can't be too common.

To feed or not to feed (baby premolt)

That is a fat little scorpion, I don't think it would hurt to skip feeding it entirely this time around.

what its like to live with Bark scorpions!

I've never had a captive escape, but they occasionally wander in from outside. I just plop them into my terrarium when I find them, lol. I sometimes fear that one will find a way into my bed or underwear drawer, but fortunately that's never happened.

    Millipede ID?

I actually found it while backlighting for scorpions, but I assumed that it just showed up because of the bright colors. It's cool to know that they actually fluoresce!

    Millipede ID?

I found this little guy on the sidewalk outside (in central Texas) and thought it was a cool looking. Sorry for the poor image quality, it was pretty hard to get close up with my cell phone. The red parts are much brighter in person, almost like a fluorescent orange. I'm mainly wondering if it...

    Communal C. Vittatus Tank

I just dump a few dozen crickets in every two weeks or so. It seems to work fine.

    Communal C. Vittatus Tank

I just wanted to show off my C. Vittatus tank. I have 9 total that I caught in my yard over a few nights. No cannabilism so far, but I've observed some of the scorpions "flicking" others with the back of their tail (the sting is facing away). Is this something all scorpions do? Most days...

Little intruders in my scropion enclosure

I don't see why you'd remove them. If they survive long enough to get bigger it's free scorpion feed :)

Tips for catching a wild Scolopendra heros?

I recently caught a 3" centipede on the wall of my house, but I'm almost certain that it is a S. Polymorpha. I've seen a rather large S. Heros in my backyard before, but it was dead unfortunately. So they live in my area but I haven't had much luck finding them (except by chance). My Polymorpha...
