    First steps into the hobby

Welcome to the hobby, and the forums! It won't take long until you have more ;-) A GBB sling was T number 2 for me, following my A Geniculata. I always get them from slings; it feels really rewarding to take care of them and watch them grow. Enjoy!!

Came here to post this - saw it recently. One of the best examples I've seen!

My Chaco golden knee sling wont eat

I thought the general rule for prey size was to provide something roughly the size of the abdomen, or smaller? That worm is probably a bit big - and could probably even harm your sling; morios can be quite bitey and your T is very delicate at this size.

What to do if I can no longer care for my Ts?

Howdy folks, Sadly, over the next few months, I am going to be experiencing something which will potentially leave me unable to properly/reliably care for my spiders which have brought me so much joy over the last 5-or-so years. Does anyone have any advice on getting them rehomed somewhere? I...

People calling tarantulas their children/babies. Why?

Haha I got a good chuckle from this! OP - if you don’t like it, don’t do it. It’s probably not something to care about in other people.

    Evolution of our collections?

I started about 5 years ago with an A. Geniculata. I currently have ten, all of which I obtained as slings. Sadly a very beautiful OBT I had died as a juvenile, but the rest are all growing nicely!

Someone tell Bryan Barczyk to stick to snakes!!!!!

Wow, yeah, this is pretty awful! Won’t be supporting this dude by watching him again - once was enough! But I do kinda like the idea of using a cut-off bottle as a catch cup.

    My GBB died

Aw, sorry OP, this really sucks. I put mine on the garden; it doesn’t take long for something to make a meal from it. It’s a bit grisly, but I’ve also heard other spiders will eat a recently deceased T, though I’ve never tried this myself.

Sorry for your loss, OP - not your fault!

    HELP!! green bottle blue tarantula

Ok, calm down, take a breath. Webbing being buried is not, in and of itself, a problem as far as I know. As many others have said, your enclusure needs some work for the benefit of the spider. Start with the obvious: more substrate and a hide. These are bare minimums for a terrestrial...

Text from a fb group. I've lost faith in humanity!

I’m tempted to believe that fb post was part attention-seeking, part stupidity. I avoid fb groups like the plague because they’re often full of stuff, like this, which just enraged me.

    Introduce Yourself

Hi all! I'm Adam, 30, from the UK. I've been in the hobby for roughly 18 months, and in that time I've accumulated a collection of 10 tarantulas, all of which I bought as spiderlings and have been raising towards adulthood - haven't lost one yet, in either the sense of escaping or dying! I've...
