good ideas..
thanks for all the ideas. I like the frozen bottle idea ontop of the enclosure.
Might give that a try once it gets hot again. but the freaky weather... still not hot, just a little humid.
I have an australian scorp of course, but its from a slightly cooler region in australia. A...
cooling
thanks for the info. I will increase the substrate when I clean the tank soon.
plus will try the styrofoam container idea. Luckily its not so hot these days.
cooling down oddly enough.
Howdy. just got an U. elongatus a month ago. Think its female due to shortish tail. can't seem to attach pics. My tank set up: 38cm x 20cm x 20cm.
Sand/peat mix substrate about 8-10 cm deep. kind of false bottom set up, with tube going into one end of tank to allow water to be poured into the...
Yeah, Australia has strict import/export laws for most animals. Which is good I think.
At the moment, can't import/export scorpions. But as they get more and more popular in the pet trade, maybe Captive bred for X generations might be ok.
But I would not hold your breath anytime soon...
sure am!
Yeah, I will get back into scorpions when I get back to Oz.
I was thinking of getting an Urodacus elongatus. Been reading up on them.
Plus I want to do a little volunteer work at the Queensland Museum, Brisbane, in the arachnid section. Australian's leading spider expert works...
Hey all.
Just wondering if there are any aracno geeks living in Tokyo?
I am leaving Aug 2008. Have 1 large emperor scorpion plus tank for sale soon.
As I am returning to Australia, I can not take it with me.
Thanks.
Emp set-up
Here is my simple Emperor set up for 1 male scorp.
plastic tank, about 40cm x 30cm.
8cm deep coco-fiber substrate.
1x plastic rock hide
1x shallow water dish
1x bamboo hide
1x climbing stick in corner
1x temp/hydro metre gauge
Temp is usually around 28c. Humidity around...
winter
Ah, yes I don't want to melt the tank. Its pretty thick plastic so I should be ok.
Winters in Tokyo are cold (-5-0 degrees), so I will buy a good heat pad to put on the outside (on the side of course) of the tank.
Thanks.
have lid
Thanks. I might saturate one corner.
There are no shells in my tank by the way. Just coco fibre only. Maybe not good pic as I took with my cell phone.
This tank has a lid, which I use. I just took off the top to get a better pic of the inside. Yet I think my tank is usually made...
Hey all. Just checking my tank set up for my 1 emperor scrop. 40cm long, 30cm wide, 18cm high. 28-30 temp. about 70 humidity. 7-8 cm deep substrate. 1 good hide plus another bamboo hide. Shallow water dish.
1 question. How do I maintain high humidity after summer? Apart from water spraying, I...
substrate
Thanks for the tips. I increased the depth of the substrate. Little more humid too. He is still active at night and seems fine. I guess he will eat when he wants to. D
Thanks
thanks for the useful. I might slightly raise the temp/humidity a little.
My substrate is about 3cms deep. Might increase the depth a little next time I clean out the tank. I have a lid on the tank, but with many holes.
I will get a small heat pad to put on the side (cover just half...
Hi. I am a NOOB. Just got new emperor scorpion 2 days ago. Pet store owner said he ate a few days before. But he does not hunt down or eat the cricket in his tank at night. I took out the cricket next morning. Scorpion is kind of big, and cricket small. I heard its normal for Emperor scorpon to...
