ah, that's a good point. Apologies!
That makes sense... I appreciate the care advice! Maybe I'll pick up a couple one of these days. They really are super elegant, it would be nice to have a few in my collection. How long did yours live, if you don't mind my asking?
@Bugmom
Wow that is quick...
Fairly new to the T hobby (been in it for like? A year? I guess?) and was curious about L. Hesperus. They're really common in the wild in my state, but I feel like I don't know many people in the spider community who owns them.
Honestly, I think they're absolutely spectacular with their long...
Good on you for not bothering the wildlife!
Most bites from rattlers and the like tend to happen when someone's trying to kill the snake, as long as you heed their warnings and keep a sharp eye, I should think you'll be alright. I'd also wear thick denim jeans and leather boots just in case, to...
I've got a weakness for Ts with tempers haha
My second was an H. Lividum, third was a far more successful H. Mac. Did well with them for a year and now I'm picking up a C. Minax.
If it's composed of venom and fury, chances are I want it.
My first H. Maculata .5 inch sling went missing at some point a while back.
She was my first T so I wasn't super savvy at the time with how to keep such small ones, and she squeezed through a gap in the top I had thought was too small for her to attempt. Apparently not lol.
Realized she was...
H. Maculata... not sure how much size difference there is, she doesn't particularly like being bothered haha
Unfortunately, molt was too destroyed getting it out of the cage to pin for pics.
H. Lividum molted last week, Ultimate molt, and has revealed itself as male. I'm a teeny bit...
I purchased 2 tarantulas, (1) /Euathlus truculentus/ \"Chilean Beautiful\"/sub-adult/ Female/ $25 and
(1) Heteroscodra maculata/\"Ornamental Baboon\"/juvenile- 3.25\"/ unsexed / $25. We put off shipping for a few days to wait for warmer temperatures, and the seller kept in contact with me the...
@KezyGLA I ordered her as a truc, but to be completely honest I'm pretty new to the hobby, so you could very well be right! I'll do some more research on the matter and see if I can't get a 100% ID on her :)
While I was unboxing her, she ran right out of her cup and onto the back of my hand, where she sat politely until I put her in her cage. Great temperament, even though I hadn’t expected her to suddenly jump out like she did… she was very eager to be out of that cup!
Her name is Gloomweaver
I didn’t want to risk this bite, so I put her cup in the cage and removed the lid with tongs through the mostly closed door. She popped out long enough to snap some pics, then quick as a flash darted into her cork bark tube!
Fastest T I’ve ever seen tbh
