Disappointment for me is my T. apophysis. I got it as a sling and was so excited for it to grow into a monster in no time.
It’s been like ten months and it’s only molted twice. It’s rarely hungry and it’s by far my least active spider. It’s too lazy to even move any substrate around.
That’s how I discovered my S. mesaensis scorpling had died. He just didn’t move for two days. Same thing, no fall, wasn’t skinny, temps were fine, and no signs of mycosis… he just died.
My Ts seem to lose interest in food instead. My GBB used to be a great pouncer but now takes exclusively prekilled meals and usually ignores them too :troll:
Poor thing! She’ll be just fine without the stinger, though. If it were a tail segment, I would have euthanized her immediately because she’d no longer be able to defecate and would die horribly.
i know about the mold thing, but that begs the question of why you’d need to give them anything other than rice if it’s just the mold they’re eating. Do different kinds of food grow different molds on them? Should I put a little piece of bread in there?
My springtails don’t seem to eat brewer’s yeast. They don’t gather around it like they do with rice grains. Is it because the yeast comes as a powder rather than flakes?
