Advice for Bad Theraphosa stirmi Moult

It's certainly bizarre, I've been lucky enough to never have a t suffer a bad moult before so I presumed that when it did occur, the t would usually lose the leg in the actual moult itself. She did moult on her back, but I'm wondering as she moulted in her hide; which is big enough overall but...

Advice for Bad Theraphosa stirmi Moult

It's a medium-low Exo-terra so I think the dimensions are 90 x 45 x 30, I've also removed the mesh with ventilated plexiglass so no chance of her being caught. Given her size, there's no chance of her having a bad fall since the substrate is 6-7" at the back. She has since been back in her hide...

Advice for Bad Theraphosa stirmi Moult

No mate, I haven't touched her as I've heard how much stress can kill them during moult recovery. She's pulled the leg off now bless her, hopefully the gnats can sod off now so she can recover in peace. She's even got a bald patch on her side from kicking hairs due to stress, I seriously thought...

Advice for Bad Theraphosa stirmi Moult

Hi all, So my T.stirmi moulted on the 21st of July during the less than ideal conditions caused by the heatwave (30 Celcius) and appears to have suffered a bad moult. Initially, I thought she was going to die as she seemed lifeless on her side for some time after the moult; she is large, at...

    My scorpions

Mine is a medium size too. Looks like you got the defensive sibling . I can relate to your pain of your scorpion constantly moving, as mine wouldn't keep still when I tried looking through the clear pot to sex him/her.

    My scorpions

Brilliant to see. Did you get the medium or large sized one? Those are the kind of pictures I would have loved to have taken to prove their imperator.

    Pandinus imperator ID Confirmation

That's just ridiculous quality . I bought one of those Nikon remotes too, as I researched that mirror up mode is ideal for macro and I didn't want to shake the camera. I should just have a play around on manual mode, I'm pretty confident with just changing the iso. Your camera is the Sony A7...

    Pandinus imperator ID Confirmation

Yeah. My current setup is: Nikon D7200, Sigma 105mm F2.8, SB-700 speedlight and a Vanguard Alta tripod. My main issue is using it properly, as I usually use auto mode and don't bother with any editing software. I don't think I even upload them correctly, as I use the app to download them to...

    Pandinus imperator ID Confirmation

Yeah, I think the claws are what puzzle a lot of people. As a taxonomist commented; he also confirmed it to be a juvenile imperator. That their claws get rounder as they mature and since mine is a juvenile and may not be as developed as adults. I can also spot the little triangle near the...

    Pandinus imperator ID Confirmation

I just received a pandinus imperator a few hours ago. However, upon posting images online, some have questioned the authenticity of it being an imperator. I have to stress that any comments in regards to its true species must have absolute certainty. As I have had far too many people...

    Mould Issue

None taken. I can be very intense and my arrogance makes criticism sometimes personal; depending on how others choose their words. As long as my critters will be okay, then so will I. As for abandoning the hobby, that isn't an option. Maybe that's why I'm overtly cautious? As I don't...

    Mould Issue

Yes, it does bother me. I have mild OCD, so anything that wasn't there, shouldn't be there. Hell, I'll even go into a fit of rage when my pedes throw their leaf litter all over the place; especially in their dishes. But I guess I'll have to just hold my tongue and wait for a familiar outcome...

    Mould Issue

Well, that depends how you define an issue. I have already read that post, so I'm well aware that mould isn't some sort of lethal infection that will ravage all of my inverts... In fact, I never said it was. My primary concern is the rate of growth and to have someone definitively tell me...

    Mould Issue

I'm not disputing the danger of the mould, as I've read most aren't dependent on a live host and won't cause harm. What I am concerned about is the rate of growth as it will undoubtedly be back as soon I've despatched of the previous mould. Optimistically, I hope the gradual reduction of...

    Mould Issue

Update. I think I know what the problem might be. As it seems every summer the same type of mould appears and I'm starting to wonder if it's the humidity levels. I should mention that I keep my inverts inside an insulated shed that needs to be open during the summer months, which can cause the...

    Mould Issue

It's so frustrating because it's the only type of mould I get. I don't think they are mushrooms as the last time I had this problem I managed to find out what the actual name was (I have since forgotten). I even let it continue to grow after I rehoused one of my other inverts (Atypus species)...

    Mould Issue

I have recently come into issue with mould that has been the bane of my existence as a keeper since I've joined the hobby two years ago. It seems regardless of how well ventilated the enclosure appears to be, these small white dots will just suddenly appear and rapidly grow throughout the...

    Idiothele mira MM

I keep him around the 25 Celsius range too... But thanks for the pricing info. Knowing my luck I'll have to use it when I buy another i mira sling (if I can find one) that will probably be another male; I'll try to obtain two instead to increase my chances of getting a female.

    Idiothele mira MM

I believe so. As I usually see him webbing near his old trapdoor that's hardly used... He still feeds too.

    Idiothele mira MM

Yeah, I didn't bother to check to see if he hooked out when he moulted last time. I only realised that something was up when he started to wander every night. I was quite astonished at his growth rate and found it difficult to believe considering I bought him in October 2017.
