    White Film

It can get that hard to where you have to scrap it off the sides?

    White Film

Here is a pic of it...You can see where I scraped it at the bottom near where the substrate starts and some more on the left side of bottle.

    White Film

I currently have my P. Irminia in a pill bottle-sized bottle that I got from vendor at local Reptile Show. It is starting to develop a white film on the inside that I have to scrape off with tweezers. Is this something that I have to be concerned with down the road? I thought it was just webbing...

    Eco Earth Too Dry?

Well the LP has done so much burrowing that it has started "cracking." Just don't want it to collapse on her if that could actually happen.

    Eco Earth Too Dry?

I have my GBB and LP in Mini Critter Keepers and I have noticed that the Eco Earth is losing its compactness. It is going away from the sides where crickets can crawl between Keeper and substrate and T cannot reach it. Is there a way to fix this without totally rehousing Ts?

    Bigger Heating Mat?

Mine is set up like in that video posted by Cycling Sam. Have a heat mat wrapped around a glass; not touching any of my enclosures.

    Bigger Heating Mat?

I have created a microclimate for my 4 T's but the temp is not going any higher than 70 degrees. I was curious if I purchase the next sized heating mat if that would help or hinder my T's cause of excessive heat.

    Tarantula Hut Petco

Yeah, I mean I am new to this hobby too but common sense should prevail and tell them they need a little more substrate or that cricket is too big for the sling. They put so much time into setting up the other cages for the reptiles and rodents, but no they just have the T's in a plastic...

    Tarantula Hut Petco

I just came home from my local Petco and they had 3 huts there (1 Mexican Red Leg and 2 Curly Hairs). All had crickets in them bigger than the sling and the associate was too scared to open the Red Leg container because he could not see it simply through the container. The thing that shocked me...

    Tarantula Hut Petco

Moneywise I rather make a mistake on care for a $20 sling than a $80 adult cause I never had one before.

    Tarantula Hut Petco

I guess "expert" is a wrong choice of word. Here is a pic of my LP. She has been "hibernating" in this corner for like 2 weeks.

    Tarantula Hut Petco

Yeah I fell for the same sling at my local PetCo. They had slings for $20 or an adult Mexican Red-Knee for like $80. Thought it was a no brainer to get the baby for cheaper. Took it to a tarantula expert and she told me that time will tell which actual species it is, but if it ended up being a...

    Eco Earth

Drowning definitely was not on my list of concerns. LOL. More of environmental because how I've been reading that GBBs like it bone dry.

    Species Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens ("GBB")

Just molted 4 days ago. Love the colors and patterns on sling but cannot wait until adult colors start showing.

    Genus Lasiodora

here is my LP napping in her corner. Been there for about 2 weeks. This is my first sling that came from the Petco Tarantula Hut.

Anybody make their own heated cabinet?

TarantulaSam on YouTube has a video on his micro climate that he houses about 8 slings in it. I am soon to duplicate it for my two slings. I think the most expensive thing was the thermometer from Zoo Med.

    Eco Earth

I'll do that when I change the substrate. I didn't think of doing that cause of how small they are.

    Eco Earth

I do mist them every 2 days or so and keep it to one corner of keeper cage.
