They're on the softer side. I cut the one in half with scissors very easily. They look dry inside (nothing oozed out when I snipped it in half) but I'm thinking they'll liquify, just like live prey would.
I think each individual's personality plays a part in it, too. My b. Hamorii is one of my most active tarantulas. He (she) is 4+" or so and ever since I've had him/her he's been a little bulldozer. He's always moving dirt around and wrestling with his plant, or just moving about. I've watched...
I had zero interest in owning a tarantula. I was actually a little creeped out by them. But then, I needed to know how to take care of one for a story I was writing. I really just needed the basics so it would come off as realistic in the story. Things online were confusing, since I knew NOTHING...
Hello all, just updating this. I finally got around to trying out these freshly preserved roaches. I tried them out on four of my Ts. Three out of the four took them, the fourth snubbed his nose at it. The other three seem to be doing okay with them. I've seen a happy dance or two going on. I'll...
I picked these up the other day, but haven't opened them yet. I've never given my Ts dubia before, and the live ones usually come in 10s and 20s, and if my picky eaters refuse them, then I'd be stuck with a bunch of dubia. So these caught my attention. I was curious if anyone has used these before?
A Sebastian sighting. I don't see him very often, but it's awesome when he decides to hang out above ground. He will always be my favorite box of dirt.
I realize that slings are a great deal dollar for dollar, but they're SO little. I'm just not ready for that. Maybe one day, but for now I'll pay the extra bucks for the extra size. My collection is small, and I don't intend to get too many more (hahaha, right?) so I'm sticking with juveniles...
You're right. I've always been under the impression that they get to that huge size, but if they're normally at or under that 8" mark, that isn't bad. :) I've heard a lot of people say you shouldn't buy an LP because you'll eventually get one for free, but I'm not really into slings, so I would...
Hi everyone, for awhile now I've been debating on getting an L. parahybana. I think they're beautiful and more than once I've had them at the top of my list. The one thing, however, that's stopped me so far from getting one is knowing that this tarantula will get rather large. Right now I have...
Good luck on getting your first T! It's quite the experience. Honestly, my wishlist would be a lot longer....but I'm trying to stay reasonable. I share my house with my husband, two kids, two dogs, and a fish, so I'm trying not to bring in a 100 spiders. Actually, that's not really fair. I don't...
