    Tarantula question

Somebody might post the link to the thread for it if they can find it. As soon as I saw the "disagree" emoticons I knew something was wrong.:) @peanutthetarantula Look at this link below to see why there was confusion when you first posted...

Help! New taratula sling when expecting adult

If you can confirm you were charged for an adult you should contact the seller immediately. Even if you want to keep it you deserve a refund of the difference. In reality you also deserve a little extra store credit as well since you will have to now pay full shipping again to order another...

    Tarantula question

I just read this entire thread today. I somehow missed it or maybe I was too busy trying to keep us from eating tarantulas. I just knew that @moakmeister had to be up to something tricky at the beginning of the thread. @peanutthetarantula can be happy that this T lived a long life. Nice...

    A. Hentzi sling care

I haven't owned any Hentzi adults yet. I have loads of slings. I believe bone dry is fine for USA Aphonopelma including Hentzi - just a water dish. Many people may slightly moisten a section of the substrate near the water dish or their burrow area when they detect the tarantula is in...

    A. Hentzi sling care

That reply applies only to 1/4" slings. Almost all really small Aphonopelma like moisture and will burrow except short trips to top of substrate for food/hunting.

    Breeding N. incei colour forms.

I wish I could see enough of mine to even guess on sex. All of their molts stay down in the substrate. I am about to up-size the enclosures for my golds. They are all definitely bigger than my olives. In fact it caught me by surprise when I figured out how to check for size. I can monitor...

    Breeding N. incei colour forms.

    N. incei come from Trinidad and both color forms come from any location where this tarantula can be found there if I understand correct. There is only one other species in this genus, N. fasciaaurinigra, which comes from Villavicencio, Colombia (all of this assuming this genus does not have...

Ok, I have to vent this...

It would be interesting to have a thread providing different myths, beliefs, etc. related to spiders from a historical perspective only. I just Googled and found a few. EDIT* But that is more generic to spiders than just tarantulas.

    Heat mat question

I agree with your original post. I see complaints about the Zoo Meds being too hot even for reptiles. Without a good quality thermostat there is risk as well. These things are manufactured cheaply and fail quite often unless you spend money on a much higher quality brand like some of the ones...

Which T has more potent venom, Cobalt Blue or Horned Baboon?

Unfortunately there are no lab tests for humans because none of you were willing to volunteer. Some tests that were done occurred for mice. Neither T mentioned in this thread is listed in that test. But Cyriopagopus paganus, Ceratogyrus marshalli, and Ceratogyrus brachycephalus are listed in...

Ok, I have to vent this...

I agree with the idea that it would perhaps be best to plan to not do T activities if you know she is about to visit (unless you have a T emergency situation). At the same time I would also try to create a path to discuss T's with her at some point after you give her some type of chance to like...

    A. Hentzi sling care

For your 1" hentzi I would offer two burrows. One on each side of your enclosure. Put some moisture on the substrate for one burrow only and let the T pick its choice. Somewhere between 1" and 2" they tend to transition to less need for moisture.

    Im a goof

I like that name "double avic".:) Did you make that up? I always go crazy typing avic avic.

    A. Hentzi sling care

I failed to mention. If you use something like a tooth pick to create the burrow you can make it not too large and more likely the sling will treat it as a burrow. Just insert it next to the plastic and wiggle it a little to give a small amount of width. You will need to also create a path...

    A. Hentzi sling care

I can't give you numbers on lifespan, but what I have been told is that it is fairly long. But many Aphonopelma are WC as adults which means most people don't have any idea on the age of their T when they obtain it. On the 1/4" sling, I recommend that you create a pre-made burrow under a piece...

    Anyone still handling Ts?

Thank you for sharing that information. We don't have tarantulas in my area, but have lots of jumping spiders. I wish I had more time to go search for a few and care for them. My comment about the food industry actually doesn't relate to your comment but does relate to the thread. I probably...

    Accidently Killed my Tarantula.

That is unfortunate. Do not beat yourself up about it. It is your intentions that count. I dropped a container with a T. gigas sometime ago and it rolled across the room. I got lucky and found the T in the substrate. I beat myself up badly on it and overfed that T (it was early in my...

Has anyone here ever eaten their tarantula?

I don't remember that. So I did word it that way. Am I a bad bad person because I believe what I believe? This hypocrisy thing you are trying to stick on me fails. I am still saying the same thing that I said at the beginning. Mixing the two subjects was and is wrong. EDIT* I hit reply...
