    Good True spider

I've had a heteropoda lunula for a few months now, still pretty small, but it's already one of my favorite spiders, easy to care for and a great hunter. Huntsman spiders in general are pretty great, live 2-3 years generally (a bit longer sometimes, especially for females). I'm still waiting to...

Need Help In Keeping SilverFish As Pets...>

I second Ghoul's idea for using substrate, when they get in to your house they'll congregate to the dark, moist parts of your house. We had them in our basement when I lived in New York, where water seeped in whenever it rained and the furnace kept it warm. As to what they ate... I have no idea...

    Can't find Emperor anywhere!!!

A day late to this thread but yeah, emperors are currently illegal for import in the US, so they've gotten crazy hard to find and expensive, and some shops will get in red claws and tell you they're emperors, but red claws are way more aggressive and not a great beginner species, or they'll try...

    How to feed tiny scorplings

Died in the condensation? Dang, I'd stress way too much with these guys. The only scorplings I've ever cared for were LQs that were maybe 1/4 in., I bought the smallest crickets I could find (no local pet shops even offer pinheads around here) and pulled their back legs off, but they seemed to...

    Laws on true spiders?

Not too tricky, captive bread spiders do fine with a fake plant or vine, maybe a small branch for easier webbing, in sand substrate and low humidity (40% or so) (they're made to withstand long droughts and too much misting can harm and kill it). Just be positive they aren't wild caught, they...

    Laws on true spiders?

Well I don't know about this particular species but usually the issue isn't legality of ownership, it's shipping live animals internationally that makes things tricky, usually both parties, buyer and seller, need the right permits/licensing to do so, otherwise the package can get flagged by...

Getting ready for a Sicarius sp.

I doubt you really need a pre-rec species to get experience with first, these guys a pretty simple and safe to care for. Yeah, they're very fast, but can't climb around plastic/glass enclosures, so escape isn't a concern unless you need to move it, which is simple enough if you've ever rehoused...

    Help choosing a spider!

I've been looking around too, thinking about ordering a Cyclocosmia torreya, such a strange looking spider and I've never owned a trapdoor. Trying to find someone selling red widows again also, kenthebugguy sold them a while back but I've never come across them again anywhere.

    To feed or not?

I've never had to do it, but I've heard putting a small container filled with corn flakes in the enclosure should gather most of the mites up. I'd re-house and do that in the clean set-up just to be on the safe side, in case any got transferred over.

    Hottentotta tamulus?

Anyone know of a breeder/vendor selling these guys? (Indian red scorpion)

List of scorpions with medically significant stings

Yes, deaths from scorpion stings are uncommon from folks without an allergy. But there are species that can cause extreme damage to your body if you do not get help after being stung. I care for a deathstalker, if I was to be stung I could ride out the extreme pain and vomiting, but it can also...

    Velvet ant breeders?

I became fascinated with these guys after seeing them on Bugs in Cyberspace's site, but they don't seem to have them in stock too often. Anyone know of somewhere else offering them? I haven't found anything yet.

    Backwater Reptiles/Dictators?

Thanks everyone, this site made me nervous to begin with and I haven't made the order, I'll probably check out Ken the Bug Guy, I've made a number of orders with him before.

    Backwater Reptiles/Dictators?

I've been keeping an eye out for dictators (what hobbyist doesn't?), and saw that Backwater Reptiles is offering some babies. I looked in to them, and saw some mixed reviews. There were some very negative write-ups, but I also watched some unboxing vids where the buyer was impressed. My question...

    NEED SUGGESTIONS!

Huh, this one is tough, you seem really ambitious for a first time invert hobbyist. Firstly, I'd recommend researching more tarantula species, most of what we see in the media are the birdeaters/goliaths, because they reach intimidating sizes but also can have plain coloration. There are plenty...

Those of you with P. dictator

I've bought from some local reptile-centric shops, but I was able to see that their inverts were healthy and properly cared for. Otherwise, I agree, it seems like many places offer inverts as a novelty. LLL Reptiles especially seems to have an awful reputation.

Those of you with P. dictator

I've seen them offered every now and then, but what are the key differences between a dictator and an imporator? I keep hearing stories of people getting scammed, so I've never pulled the trigger on buying one.

Well, I made a dumb mistake...

Yeah, I unboxed my Himilayana and it ran like crazy around my arms, so I've learned to let my slings and spiders alone, they're smarter than you'd think when it comes to escaping, and crazy quick.

    New to scorpling care/deathstalker

They can scavenge? All my other inverts ignore anything they did not kill, especially my widows. But i'll definitely try de-limbing the crickets I offer, thank you for the advice!

    New to scorpling care/deathstalker

So I just got my deathstalker from jrinverts.com, and immediately realized that, like an idiot, I had not asked how large/old it was. Turns out it's a baby (which I suppose explains the great price). I have no problem with this, I have plenty of experience with slings and spiderlings, but is...
