I was going on the head crest and the shape of the leaf sheild. I'm going to bust out my magnifying glass and count segments. I believe I have 4 males =[
In the last week I read an article that said the B. Vagans range was limited to a few citrus groves in southern Florida and have since been eliminated. You'd have to take my word on it though as I can not seem to place the article ATM. The whole reason I was researching is b/c I just came home...
I'm not so interested in introduced populations. I'm more looking for cases of w.c/ seen Brachys in the U.S. Although, I do believe it is perfectly reasonable to assume quiet a few genera of T would thrive along the southern boarder states. The southern U.S has 6 different climate types ranging...
So there was a small established population of vagans in southern Florida but they've been eradicated successfully.
I'd really love to hear some more first hand reports of the American Brachy.
I figured a few species would cross over state side. While you can not legally collect Brachys id love to know what species make it state side....
On an aside, I've wondered how a solid wall between the countries would affect both brachys, Aphonos, and other animals that rely on Mexican...
So I know that there are Brachypelma species all over mexico. Think any of them creep their way into the border states?
The only's real information I could find was from the new Aphonopelma revision which stated Aphonopelma was the only genera in the U.S.... But that study was done from just...
Most temperate mosses need a cool down period to be successful. Assuming your from a temperate area, you'll likely see it all brown out in about 6 months. Looks really cool for now though.
Im looking for a non-T/scorp to make a really cool little natural set up for. I have spare 2.5 and 5 gallons. Ive looked at vinegroons, whip scorpions, assassin bugs, leather beetles, and warrior beetles so far.
What I'm looking for is something that is going to be activate, id prefer...
If your going cheap then there are 100s of websites out there selling plastic containers of all shapes and sizes. Many people keep large arboreals in large pretzel type coneainers and large burrowers/terrestrials in smaller Rubbermaid type containers.
Also most major pet stores will run 1$ per...
Why would you want to try to shove any large T in an enclosure that might be too small? Just because my LP might fit inside that large keeper, it certainly wouldn't be natural or thriving.
Size doesn't really do it for me, but I do like to show off my larger T's. Many of them I've had for...
I feel like lizards might make up a significant portion of arborials T's diet. I went to Costa Rica a few years ago and was amazed by how many lizards there were everywhere (and I'm from Florida originally). Go walk around the perimeter of a few big trees and try to count the number of baby...
I've been posting for a few weeks now, but my name's Brandon. I'm 24 and currently live in new Jersey. I've been keeping for about 8 years I currently have 19 T's across 9 genera.
I mainly focus on new world stuff. My favorites are new world arborials like Psalmopoeus, Avicularia, and...
Does anyone know the mechanism as to why we become more sensitive to these hairs? And does anyone else see the cruel irony in becoming more sensitive to something you love??
About the only thing you can keep with your T's is something too small to be noticed. With my larger spiders I will throw a few dubia nymphs in my tanks and watch them grow, until they disappear.
I do need to overhaul her enclosure. It was my first attempt at a live enclosure. The reason I only keep some buffalo beetles in with her, is because the soil dries out too quickly for any of the other isos to thrive. I did give it a deeper soil bed than it appears, but she has tamped the soil...
25 gallon hexagon 75w of light 6 hrs a day, and computer fan for airflow. Flora: common ivy and Queen Anne fern. Fauna: 1 MF A.versicolor, spring tails, little Kenyan roaches, Dubai nymphs, giant canyon isopods, and dwarf white isopods. Tanks has been set up for 3 months, versi was added 2...
