Found this little guy while doing yard work. I live in the northwest and I found him under some damp pine needles. Thanks! :)

New H. Arizonensis enclosure with false bottom

Sorry I haven't updated. I haven't seen him in over a month now :( he disappeared in the deep substrate shortly after my last post and I haven't seen him since. He never fully went into diapause this last winter so I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. I figure I'll wait...

Baby scorpion crawled to mothers stomach?

One of the baby scorpions left the mom, not sure if it fell off but it's taking shelter in some peatmoss near the mom. Should I remove it and place it in a separate container?

Baby scorpion crawled to mothers stomach?

Hello, My C. Sculpturatus just gave birth about a week ago. I've noticed the babies are more active and one even crawled onto the mothers stomach. I've already had some losses (pretty sure she ate a few) so I'm wondering if I'm getting close to needing to remove them? I work full time so it is...

New H. Arizonensis enclosure with false bottom

I moved him over! Here are pics from last night before I moved him. Anyday now I feel like. He is so big and so sluggish. Looks like he's having a hard time getting around, poor guy. I woke up this morning and he already dug a shallow burrow in the new enclosure :) now it's a waiting game...

New H. Arizonensis enclosure with false bottom

Still a work in progress. 10gl tank was used. Final layer is drying now. I'll be putting more hides in there when it dries. I tested out the false bottom and actually over filled it so it's taking twice as long to dry out! :) At least I know it works well with little water. I used a plastic tray...

    H. arizonensis molting problems - I have an idea

Does anybody know if it is okay to move a premolt H. Arizonensis to a new tank? I'm thinking of doing a false bottom but he'd have to redo his burrows and he is looking like he's going to pop any day now. I want him to have the best chance at molting but I'm worried that him having to redo his...

    H. arizonensis molting problems - I have an idea

I've thought something similar as I have an H. Arizonensis that is premolt. My idea was getting custom cut glass and using acrylic glue to build my own 24" deep tank with a plastic tube attached to one corner going all the way down to a false bottom, very costly though. A cylinder would most...

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

Scorpion was found!! I took everything out and still didn't see it or any remains, giving up, I was going to put everything back in when I spotted it with my black light. Arachnodrew was correct, perfect hiding spot, this crevice was facing the ground in the enclosure.. I think it has been...

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

I was thinking the same thing about them mating and then eating the male. Since there are no remains (probably because of my cleanup crew) I can't totally rule out an escape. And I hadn't even gotten the chance to sex two of the three, so no way of knowing if the Scorp was a male.

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

Wouldn't one of the blue death feigning beetles have ate the remains by now? Last time I did maintainence was last Wednesday.. they were all there at that time. Also, as far as it escaping the mesh lid, that isn't likely, but me taking off the lid for cleaning would let it possibly escape.

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

I'm pretty sure it is not in there, I moved everything around in the tank. Tonight when I get home I will move all of them to a serperate container and take everything out to make sure. I'll continue to search with a black light as well, I may try to set up a heat lamp and place a shoe under it...

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

The tall branch closest is where it may have been able to get a leg up and out when I did matainence, I was good about keeping an eye on all of them but can't help but worry of course.

    C. Sculpturatus cannibalism?

So I've kept them pretty well fed, but I noticed one out of the three is no longer there. I don't think one climbed out but looking at the tank if one of them used its tail just right it might have been able to escape.. but I did use a black light throughout my house and didn't find anything. I...

    H. Arizonensis molt with Blue Death Feigning Beatles?

Well, he emerged again.. Now I'm 90% sure he is premolt. I am giving him more humidity by pouring a small cup of water in the corner opposite his burrow every other day. I have two beatles as a cleanup crew. I wouldn't want them to disturb him as he molts, or cause extra stress and then him...
