Babycurus Gigas - What instar? How long until they are adults?

Yes I agree. Jacksoni are great scorpions to. In fact, all in all they are at the top of my list. At least for now.

I know. It was just luck in the first place. But for now focus is on their cousins.

Babycurus Gigas - What instar? How long until they are adults?

And, yes. One more reason. I originally wanted to be able to breed them and the Gigas seem to be a lot harder to breed since the females, as I understand it, often eat all of her young. Please feel free to have another opinion. Or correct me if this is wrong.

Babycurus Gigas - What instar? How long until they are adults?

I really wanted a communal setup and could not find any more Gigas of the right size to add to the two. And Jacksonis seem to be a bit easier to care for. I have not had any arachnids for some time, but decided to reenter the hobby during this spring. Then I wanted to have Jacksonis (Had done...

Babycurus Gigas - What instar? How long until they are adults?

Hi. Nice to get some replies. But I decided to change my Gigas couple for Jacksonis. So I no longer have any Gigas. Big thanks anyway.

    Emperor scorps and dubia roaches

I agree that they are accepted, by all my inverts so far, through the years. In that sense crickets are ideal. But the cannibalism and the to-soon-deaths are driving me mad. Must learn how to care for them better then.

Proliferation of Scorpions in Marrakech, Morocco ?

Sad to read that. I don´t envy You at all having to deal with potentially deadly scorpions in that manner. Just hope You will not get stung and that the rain comes and it cools down so the scorps move out of the cities. Or whatever will get them out.

    Emperor scorps and dubia roaches

Are You serious? I don´t mind a joke here and there but my question was.

    Emperor scorps, mean or nice?

I agree. I have had some Imperators and there was one that was more aggressive than my A.Bicolor at the time. The rest of the emps were pretty nice and one in particular was extremely docile. :)

    Emperor scorps and dubia roaches

From what I know the Blatta lateratis (Turkistan cockroach, Rusty Red, Red Racer, Red Runner Roaches etc.) can survive and reproduce in our homes, even if You live in colder climate, with dry indoor air at winter. You have to be very careful not to have any escapees. There seem to be a down side...

    Hottentotta franzwerneri care info?

Ok. Thanks for the info. Must have been the confusion with Buthus tunetanus, I thought B. occitanus was at least nearly leathal. According to my friend it really is for the prey though, they are said to die instantely after being stung. :)

A couple of interesting (to me) observations.

sschind: One theory of why scorpions glow under UV-light is that it works like a way of knowing that the other is a scorpion (and not another prey). When keeping scorpions together, there seem to be a much greater risk of cannibalism during sheds. That could have something to do with what...

    Hottentotta franzwerneri care info?

Hi. Sorry for just intruding this way. But a friend of mine own a Buthus occitanus and has sent me some videos of it showing extreme agression. In one of the vids the scorp really is waving its metasoma around in all kinds of directions trying to hit the nearby object, a pen in this case. I do...

Babycurus Jacksoni in a communal setup – How to do it right?

Last update and a lesson learned: Got two more Babycurus Jacksoni females (i6) by mail last Friday. (Two were already in the terrarium.) The newcomers arrived in separate small plastic cans filled with moistened paper. I lifted the whole paper clumps up and put them in the terrarium with the...

Babycurus Jacksoni in a communal setup – How to do it right?

Update: The seller of these first two female Jacksonis warned me for having two females in the same terrarium. The females are so territorial that it will not work he told me. And the seller is not an amateur, rather a pro. (BTW there has not been as easy as I thought to find adult or subadult...

New Terrarium, Gray Fuzz(?) on Substrate

If I were You I would start over again with fresh substrate. Why? I have experienced just that. First time I just wetted the substrate and when it had expanded I just put it in the terrarium. Result: Mold, just like in Your pictures. Then I learned that if You squeeze the substrate (Did it by...

    Scorpion Pro needed

Grabbing them by the tail can be be much harder than it looks. Again, I am no expert in any way. But I would recommend You to get ready for the next time You find one. With that I mean that make sure that you find or acquire a suitable glass/jar or such and a piece of sheet metal disc or such...
