Sorry I haven’t been to active on the forums this winter. I should have some avalable in a month or two as everything warms up. My inbox is cleared up as well
I bet the temps during the day are just fine and would allow for them to mate. But those night time temps will prevent the young from developing. Maybe you could find a more permanent heat sourse. Or use a heat mat attached to a rheostat
If there’s condensation then you may need some more ventalation. Rose hairs should have there tank bone dry except for a water bowl. Once the condensation is gone the flies should leave as they like humidity
Under the tank is just fine, make sure the heat pad covers no more then half of the tank. Humidity isn’t to much of a problem with Dubia. I wouldn’t spray them as the heat and humidity may have led to your problem especially if there isn’t much ventalation. Also if water is hitting the egg...
The flies could be phorid flies. The tarantula dance I beleave is her spinning web to make some sort of web mat but I’m not positive. Watch the spinerets and see if there moving
Carrots work just fine as long as it’s not to humid in there. They have a tendicy to just dry up, apples on the other hand will rot up if they are not removed. I feed my roaches 2 times a week and just take the old carrots out each time I feed, sometimes I leave carrots in for a week and they...
Just use your imagination when cutting them up, egg cartons are the ones you get at a store and egg crates are the large flat ones that restraunts get there eggs in. You could go to a local breakfast joint and ask for any spare egg crates I’m sure they’d have them
Top soil is probably better than potting soil. When I get in to millipedes I’m planning on using 70% topsoil and 30% coir, I’ll also mix leaves and rotting wood in. I think some coir is a good idea because it holds water and has anti mold properties to it
I will be selling many roach species mostly pet roaches. I will have some new species for sale and some rare species, I will also be focusing on millipedes (some rare and new species) and many other types of arthropods. I’ll only ship to the continental US.
The kritter keeper is just fine for them they don’t need much humidity, they shouldn’t breed at room temp, personly I think temps in the 60’s will be fine
I wouldn’t recommend using cotton balls in a water dish as for the same reason tarantula keepers don’t recommend putting a sponge in a water dish, it can grow lots of bacteria. I suspect that is your problem with a few of them firing off as hissers are generally very hardy. Also you would be...
I’d recommend breeding roaches over crickets.
You can put the crickets in a larger plastic container and use egg cartons for them. I’d also put a small pot of soil with a heat mat under it for them to breed. Also use a reostat to control the heat mat.
I’m guessing by silent it meant they...
THey are Blaberus giganteus the Giant cave roach. The white one on the right is freshly molted. I do sell them as well, they are the second longest roach in the world.
I wouldn’t recommend snails as well, I’ve heard of them rasping? hairs out of your arm.
This is a list of species I’d recommend
Hissers
Peppered roaches
Blue death feinting beetles (or any darkling)
Millipedes(they may nible but it shouldn’t hurt)
Different species like mantids may be best...
