    My carnivorous plants

@Xafron I live in Portland, Oregon. I will post pictures of the plants I grow outdoors year-round soon.

    My carnivorous plants

Mine get full sun but once they are well into the growing season they tend to get more floppy. These are just waking up, so the leaves seem to he more short and stout.

    My carnivorous plants

Pictures of P. hirtiflora, P. megaspilaea, and the seed pod from the cross I made between the two (hopefully it was successful). Also, the flowers of P. primuliflora 'Rose'.

    My carnivorous plants

In my opinion, the temperate Pinguicula are the most difficult temperate CP to grow, besides the south American and New Zealand temperate Drosera. The cold temperate Pinguicula do not tolerate high temps very well, and the warm temperates need a cold winter but no prolonged frosts and high...

    My carnivorous plants

First and foremost, don't buy seeds from Amazon or Ebay, the majority of the time they are fake. When growing VFTs from seed, you should sow them on some sort of nutrients free acidic media, either a mix of peat with some sort of aggregate, such as sand or perlite, or just pure long fibered...

    My carnivorous plants

Sorry for the second absence. End of the school term is always a bit busy. Anyways, here are a few photos I took over spring break, hope you enjoy them. I even got one of a Phiddipus audax that was hanging out by my temperate Pinguicula (they are too big to get caught, for the while at least).

    Your carnivorous plant pics

I grow four species of tuberous Drosera, and some seeds I sowed super late seek to be germinating (will be power-feeding those). I also let those get pretty much completely dry during the summer. I give them a few drips of water on occasionally though, with not really any pattern. All of mine...

    Your carnivorous plant pics

I let my Mexican Pinguicula dry out completely during their winter phase. In fact, some species that form underground bulbs, such as P. medusina and P. macrophylla, demand the soil be devoid of moisture. I've noticed that there is a lot of over-exaggeration about how they are super sensitive to...

    Your carnivorous plant pics

I give all of my Neps (intermediate to highland) days in the low 70s during winter and dropping into the mid to low 50s at night. Temps during the summer get closer to the 80s during the day, now that I upgraded to T5HOs it will probably be in the low 80s. Fortunately this means I'll get more of...

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

Thanks for providing that info, although, it means I'm gonna just be focusing on carnivorous plants for now.

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

Haha, I have considered this! Fortunately for me, I enjoy sleeping cool, and my plants will eat any monsters that come out after dark :P

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

My issue is that the only places I have room for Ts have highland temps.

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

I found the old thread I was after, and it is about mesomelas, although Codyrr mentions the whole genus having similar care: http://arachnoboards.com/threads/megaphobema-mesomelas-care.200377/ Any thoughts on his claims? Unfortunately mesomelas is really expensive, and it has been the only real...

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

From an old thread I was reading, someone was adamant that the appropriate temperatures were cooler, as they claimed in nature, their extremely deep burrows are much cooler than the surrounding air temps. Hmm, perhaps if my temps seem to stress them out, I could use my second basement hobby room...

Experiences with and care for the genus Megaphobema

Hey all, after doing some asking and research, I've decided that if I get some tarantulas again, they will likely be the species from the genus Megaphobema, as the only space I have for any new T's would be near my plants, which live in a room that experiences highland temperatures for most of...
