Yes they are. Thank you. Wishful thinking, I suppose. I only have 2 t's and I suspect the other is male too‍. :/

    Male vs Female heavy species

You are correct, Starnaito. I was referring to slings. Although, I'd be curious about gender distribution among egg sacs as well. I've read about G. Pulchra being particularly difficult to breed. In searching breed reports here and the few blogs I've come across, it seems that many pairings...

    Male vs Female heavy species

There was recently a post about a certain species being particularly male-heavy. I've heard of a few different species tending to produce more males than females. What are your experiences? If you've raised several slings of a particular species, how many did you raise, and how many ended up...

Why does my A. chalcodes have a giant bald spot?

Is the bald spot on its abdomen? If so, it may be premolt.

    What's he doing and why??

Thanks for the feedback everyone. As I said, this is my first tarantula, so I'm still learning and soaking up your opinions like a sponge. I prefer to feed him baby crickets, but by the time I'm off work, my local exotic pet store is closed (along with all the chain stores that I'm afraid to by...

    What's he doing and why??

Definitely pre-killed! I left 2 because it was recommended to me both in person and I've read it in a few posts. I've done it before, and he ate both once. He's never had a problem with eating them and I usually end up taking one out the next day, since it wasn't eaten. This is my first...

    What's he doing and why??

I gave my G. puchra a few meal worms before I left for work this afternoon, and came home to this. He appears to be soaking his food or something? I've seen him do it before and didn't think too much of it, but now I'm curious. He doesnt appear to be drinking, just soaking the mealworm and a leg...

    Fingers crossed!!

I compiled the pictures I took. They're a bit blurry from zoom :/ Hopefully someone can help me out here! I'll be happy with either sex since I'll have him/her for a while regardless. I'm trying to solidify a name! Lol Thanks in advance!

    Who molted today?

So I come home from work tonight and my FIRST and ONLY tarantula EVER is on it's back molting!! This is it's first molt in my care, and I CANNOT CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT! My little 1.75" (or so) G. pulchra has successfully molted, all limbs in tact! I can't wait to see how much it's grown! :D :D

    Introduce Yourself

Oh hey there! Hello everyone!! My name's Maggie and I'm new to the hobby. I just purchased my first tarantula, a G. pulchra, and I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival in about 3 days. I've already named it Aragog. I've been perusing the internets every night for about a month now learning...
