Name of this species? Found in Ca

While they surely occur elsewhere, I have better luck in places with some elevation. Avoid the beaten paths, they do. Stones with lichen on them in their arid habitats is an indication that the elusive moisture they need is beneath, and yield the best results for me.

    I think i discovered something

I have been keeping a pair of geophilomorpha (collected separately, in different counties) for several months now. There is a substantial size difference between the two, but they cohabitate just fine. They are housed in a plastic container a ham sandwich came in...lol

any good place to hunting critters near Los Angeles?

I enjoy both the great outdoors(canyons, forests, deserts, chaparral) and the "local-remote"(defunct rail lines, refuse-strewn fields, paved rivers, dreadfully neglected or abandoned properties)for wildlife observation, invert hunts, and skull collecting. But i rarely have anyone along for the...

    Dead or Molting Vietnamese Centipede

I try to adhere to a strict "hands off" approach to any invertebrate I in anyway suspect of pending moult. It is likely the aforementioned "wildcaught+elderly" scenario, but disturbing a mid- moult invert in any way can be disastrous! If unsure, a wise man once told me: "It isn't dead until it...

What I do to stop bleeding.

Just a few months ago, I had a 1.5" B. vagans ("Spanky") take a nasty fall. The abdomen split all the way across horizontally. It gaped wide open, the semi-clear blood welling up out of the wound. I saw the severity and my heart sank. I went ahead with the cyanoacrylate treatment though I was...

    My vietnamese centipede

In that first pic, I would say your centipede is wearing an expression of determined villany. I consider them to be the embodiment of natural sadism in the predatory mind and the biological apex of survival's cruel necessities. I am a fan!

Im from SoCal, and have traveled penniless far and wide, so the threat and scumbaggery of wild dogs and wingnuts are second nature to me. Always up for adventure. Any chance you could PM the Rialto wasteland's general whereabouts to me. I promise not to pillage.
