I really wish I could get my bigger t's to take dubias. I guess I'll look into the other species mentioned in here. They're like little kids not wanting to eat vegetables with the dubias. Drives me nuts.
I usually like to drop crickets in and let the spiders hunt. Dubias are like ninjas though they don't seem to make the vibrations that set the t off . Anyways so what I'm hearing is to treat them as kids and make them eat their broccoli.
I take bark off of dead ash and elm . If you find the right tree you can get big pieces. If the bark is wet it's pliable and will readily curl into a tubular hide. I cut it to fit on the back wall and hot glue it. Thats an old one . It was prettier when I made it .
If they are allowed to burrow they won't web as much generally. I put a bunch of branches and sticks and rocks in the enclosure. With fairly shallow substrate. The whole thing including the lid was regularly webbed thoroughly . She created tunnels through the brush.
Yes they will dig tunnels like the cartel. Idk if anyone said this yet but the soil needs to be packed pretty tight for them to want to burrow . Or they prefer it anyways.
Me . I'm going in the woods .indian life. I remember a few years ago an H. minax at a pet store . It was in a 10 gallon completely empty with that green carpet they use. The obligate burrower was clinging to the lid upside down. it was probably wc too I figured it was just in the darkest place...
It depends on what you like and want i start by reading as much info as possible ,then look at pictures, and watch videos on a certain species. Now theres always a list in my head of what I want but can't get all of them at once. So canidates are narrowed down by this method. price matters too...
I traded John an mm for a few B cobacla spiderlings they look healthy and spry. The packaging was exemplary and looked professional. Communication was great and we ended up getting our trades within a couple hours of each other. Dont hesitate to buy /trade with john2097. Thank you much john...
I had one that lived almost 2 years as an mm . It just doesn't sit right with me that I didn't breed him seeing that was his purpose in life him but like other people have said...2000× very small spiderlings is a daunting thought. Not saying I would but maybe allow them to cannibalize until the...
If they have a pitch black hide they may even come out into the light. Mine does but mostly only at night. I use a flourescent light sometimes and no problems
I have a similar colored cambridgei that has always been dark but in the last molt the pattern on her abdomen turned a greenish color .must be a hybrid . Its my fiercest t i wouldnt have it any other way
Borrowers seem to have a good work ethic. constantly keeping up with their own growth rate. Could be a combination .the hot weather speeds up metabolism so that a molt would approach faster and could cool down all in one
how she goin eh My name is vince I've been keeping t's for 5 or so years now . Looking to buy / trade/loan/sell depending on the situation. I'M proud of my small collection of 30. haven't started breeding yet but its close. Mostly just want to get my mms bred via selling/trading .
Yeah ts dont like to walk on soft ground and im sure its like if you or i had to walk on softball sized rocks all the time. Not fun. Also like others have said they could have noxious chemicals even certain woods themselves are poisonous to arthropods.
Definitely a unique species quite the oddball . i really like mine cause its usually out in the open. Also i dont ever have to wait long to see it eat it knows where food is the second it hits the web like spider radar.
