A sure-fire trick to know your T is out at night

I got a sure-fire trick of my own. I usually spread a smooth coat of mayonaisse in my T's enclosure to see if they've been coming out at night. Works like a charm. Smells good too :)

What is the btemperment of the Aphonopelma genus?

I second this. Also, a lot of the dwarf Aphonopelmas have pretty bad attitudes. I've also seen a few seemanis that didn't live up to Aphonopelmas docile reputation.

Comment by 'Goomba' in media 'Texas Brown?'

I don't think it's a B. albiceps. It lacks the red hairs on the abdomen. Good be the camera though. Another guess is that it's an A. anax. Any other input?

    Which arboreal to choose?

From what I know, Psalmopoeus is very similar to Poecilotheria in terms of venom potency and makeup. I knew a guy who got tagged by a reduncus and they weren't having a good time. I'm not a big fan of arboreals to begin with, but out of those I would go for the P. irminia I think. Or get a...

Which of these Brachys is better?

I rarely see the true, super velvety B. vagans around. However, the 1 adult female I've had in the past was by far one of the most vicious spiders I've ever kept. Other people I know have had similar experiences. I'll stick with my B. albiceps as I mentioned :)

    Favorite Aphonopelma species?

    A. moderatum, A. sp. "New River", A. bicoloratum, A. behlei is pretty neat I suppose, A. moorei/mooreae (unsure about spelling, but good luck finding one of these  ), oh and the blue A. seemanis are pretty striking too.

Which of these Brachys is better?

Boehmei is stunning, but every single one I have ever owned has been an atrocious hairkicker. I personally like my B. albiceps the most.

    Lee's Herp Haven (14.5 x 8.75 x 9.75) for adult Brachypelmas?

Hey gang, Came across a batch of brand new large Lee's Herp Haven enclosures. Their dimensions are 14.5 inches long by 8.75 inches wide by 9.75 inches tall (which roughly equates to 5 gallons, I believe). Would you guys feel this is large enough for an adult smithi or boehmei (given that the...

How much ventilation for T. spinipes?

Avoid bare screen. I usually take photo paper or plastic bags or something similar and poke holes into it, then tape it onto the inside of the screen lid. Maintains humidity, and prevents leg loss, etc.

My T caught a cricket midair. :D Anyone else have an acrobat?

My LP's, A. Genic's and T. stirmi all catch their food any which way they can. In the air, while on the glass, while underground (atleast for roaches and superworms), etc.

It really takes a good artist to do a tarantula right. Most of them come out looking goofy and 100% white-trash.
