So I am moving soon and I need some help with how to transport my critters.
I have 2 Tarantulas, 1 Gargoyle Gecko and 1 Red Eared Slider that needs to move with me basically cross country. From South Carolina all the way to Colorado. I already know how to transport my Tarantulas (Though if you...
Hey guys! I work at a museum and our millipede has gotten these rather odd spots on him. I was hoping you guys could help me out. The vet doesn't know exactly what it is but he said to treat it with salt water solution. Other than that I was really hoping for your guys help. Hopefully this...
Agh thank you! Now I just need to delete this thread somehow... I was in such a hurry after work that I didn't even see that sub forum! I am sooooo sorry!
Hey guys. I work at a museum and one of the arthropods I work with has gotten these odd spots on him. I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me out. The vet has said to treat it with a salt water solution. Here's a picture!
Sorry the image is so huge I can't resize the image on my tablet.
I save them. I love seeing the growth of my babies, so I save them and then once I have enough, I pin them in display cases. Is that weird? Haha. I just love seeing how much bigger they get! Especially my Theraphosa. When I got her from my friend, she was the same size as my adult G. rosea...
The picture he sent me was REALLY crappy quality from his phone... So I'm waiting until I can go over to his house with my camera to get a MUCH better quality picture! Sorry it's taking so long!!
Thanks guys!! That makes me feel A LOT better!!! My boyfriend is VERY healthy and young (He's 21) and if he gets stung, I'll be damned sure to take him to a doctor ASAP!!
Hey guys!
I was wondering how often and how much you feed your Theraphosa sp? My girl is about 6 inches long now and I am feeding her one super worm once a week. I'm wondering if I should start feeding her 2 super worms once a week or 2 super worms every 2 weeks? Or even feed her more often...
If it is a P. liosoma, what is their venom like? I think I read that it's still pretty potent, but is there anything else I should know about it? If someone were to get stung by a P. liosoma, what would they have to do, what would happen?
Thanks guys!! I seriously appreciate all of your input! It means A LOT!!! Once I get a picture, I'll definitely ask you guys for more help!
Abyss, it looks kind of like a P.liosoma. Some of the pictures look similar but others don't. The little guy is.. well.. LITTLE. And some of the pictures...
Really? Man, I wish they would do that here in the US! From now on, I'm making sure my boyfriend doesn't buy any animals, inverts or otherwise, unless they are labeled with their scientific name. The sad thing about all of this is... I REALLY like the seller! I've known him for years, have...
You are absolutely right! I asked the vendor all of those questions. What was the venom like, how to properly take care of it, how big did it get. In regards to the venom, all he said was "It'll make you sick if you get stung.". If it were ME, I wouldn't have bought it. However, it was something...
Right now, all I really want to know is if it definitely IS or IS NOT a Yellow Fat Tail Scorpion... Because honestly, I don't want my boyfriend handling such a lethal invert! :P But I will definitely get him to take some pictures tomorrow!!
Hey everyone!
My boyfriend and I recently bought a young Scorpion from a vendor at Repticon and it was labeled as a Yellow Spitting Scorpion. I had never heard of a Yellow Spitting Scorpion before. So when we got home, I tried looking up care sheets for a Yellow Spitting Scorpion and absolutely...
So the difference between a T. stirmi and T. blondi has absolutely nothing to do with coloration and everything to do with the hairs on their legs?? That's interesting! Thanks guys!
Hey guys!
Here is a pic of my Theraphosa sp. named Samus! I just rehoused her in her new 20 gallon enclosure and took the opportunity to take a picture! I bought her from a vendor at an expo a year back and she was labeled as a T. blondi and was a much lighter, almost cinnamon color but the...
