Hi all! What is everyone's favourite NW/OW tarantula that brings out the Halloween spirit?

Hey not even Johnny Lawrence in 'The Karate Kid' had this 'skeleton' for Halloween :shifty:

    The fastest growing tarantulas!

One which is impressive on that sense is Idiothele mira. Hysterocrates gigas are to consider as well. But really, there's quite several species.

    Humidifier for moisture dependent species?

A nice tea spoon of vermiculite (fine grain) mixed well in the substrate (when preparing the set up, of course) is your friend, and cost less than a humidifier, which is basically useless for that task :) Seems that this "humidity/moisture dependent species" is like Freddy Krueger for certain...

    Help ease my mind!

Well, at least you folks didn't get a S. calceatum, bit of solace :-) Very, very fast. Quite potent venom. Very reclusive (sort of vampires). But just use caution and you'll be fine.

Lasiodora parahybana vTheraphosa Apophysis is it worth it for me?

    L. parahybana are a sorta of 'Poor man's Theraphosa' (cheaper while Theraphosa spp. aren't, always available in the trade, interesting size etc). Mah... It's up to you at the end, can't say anything else.

    Condensation problems again

I don't know well the situation in England/UK, but that's a real issue here, now. Prices reached the zenith, it's a nightmare. Gas and electricity bill skyrocketed. With that said, you're right obviously. No matter what, eating and heating are the first thing.

Brazilian Black Tarantula - help needed ASAP!

Ok, but that doesn't mean that those kind of Exo's enclosures are fine for terrestrial T's. The decision is up to you, I wouldn't risk. Considering that the 99% of pet stores T's set up are crap, no doubts about this :)

Brazilian Black Tarantula - help needed ASAP!

Those kind of enclosures aren't good at all for terrestrial T's. You should replace that with a properly sized KK or similar, plastic ones (btw more cheaper than Exo's). You need for your spider floor space, not some sort of 30+ cm of height - Isn't an arboreal one. Let alone the front opening...

    Purifier disinfectant

Safe for who? For your T's? For your family health? To me seems just a normal, I-don't-know-the-brand, cleaning product. Used on the floor I doubt that would harm your T's. If you are concerned, just don't use the product where you keep your T's.

    A thought I had about owning a c.lividus

You are right but let me tell you, you should, actually, have always a more bigger 'space' for concern about their temperament. As I've said before in your other thread, those T's (all the former 'Haplos' in general) are extremely defensive. Trust me :)

    H. gigas dead, constipated?

No, honestly the holes aren't enough for me. I want more ventilation for certain species that needs moist substrate (H. gigas; Ephebopus spp.; 'Haplos' in general etc). For give the idea, a XL size, KK top ventilation (for juve to adults specimens). Just my views about, I think as well that...

I want to have a Cyriopagopus lividus some day

No. While the care is similar, based upon my experience, H. gigas are among the most shy T's species out there. The minimum noise, when they are out nearby the burrow entrance at night, is enough for having those retreat 360° down in their burrow in a blink of an eye. Only when/during a rehouse...

    H. gigas dead, constipated?

Could be. Could be impaction. But tell me about the ventilation. I believe top one only, judging from the enclosures pics. Which may be ok, if the holes are enough. Just saying, eh.

    A new Hysterocrates species????

For my views about, there's absolutely no valid reasons for pay anything Hysterocrates here in Europe more than 20Є (of course, not slings) considering how many times that genus went messed up and mixed during years. Great spiders, don't get me wrong, but :shifty:

    Entering the Old World

OW's T's were (and still are) always more or less under that 'shadow' of out of proportion myth, and that's laughable, but at the same time it's also normal to being careful around those. You don't want to miss with the likes of C. minax, P. ornata and such. Now, you don't want to miss (if...

    Arachnids and incense

Is better that T's stay away from that :-)

Grammostola pulchra twitching or seizure then death

I tell you, this post of yours deserve to be positively rated more than once. Not always there's a set up or parameters failure, a wrong 'here' or wrong 'there' that was made or to pinpoint. Simply, since the sole idea sucks big time, we often tend to forget that T's are mere living creatures...
