I totally agree with you! I got my girl as an adult and had her for 5 whole years before she passed of old age. It was always a real treat to see her venture out and cover her prey in webbing before dragging it down her hole. Their longevity, size, and ease of care made them an instant favorite...
I bought my first centipede, a Scolopendra polymorpha, two months ago and for the past week it has been in its burrow upside down. I can only see it from the bottom of the tank so I can't see anything but it's back and that it wiggles a bit when I move the container. Also, she's curled up.
Any...
Wow thanks guys! I knew I could count on you experts at arachnoboards! I felt like such a dummy for forgetting the name ): and I also forgot the vendor! :banghead: This was my first time at the reptile show so I'll remember for sure next time.
@Stugy Hey, that leaves you another year to save...
In my frenzy to get some cool Ts at the San Diego Reptile Show, I forgot what type of scorpion this was since it was the first thing I bought  I think it had the word "fire" in it's name but they didn't have a scientific name on the container. They said it would get to 3 inches and that...
I've kept a mature male during last November that a relative's friend was giving away under the misconception that it was female. they said they found it wandering around and kept it for three months then i took it in and it lived for maybe one to two months. it would become defensive and strike...
i'm not too sure what kind of spider this is. it makes webs that are extremely stingy but very strong and makes a funnel to hide in, its actually very defensive and prefers to stand its ground and bite instead of run.
thought it was a mite at first until it started walking around with it's tiny tiny claws out. hopefully this won't be the last time i ever see them again
thanks for the clue, it looks alot like it (at least from what google images showed). i really can't tell the difference between scorpions unless they have different color but even then  would it be easier to identify if it were an adult? or do all scorplings look different?
thanks for the fast reply
I'm thinking that its likely a tear but i would have thought that kind of injury would be noticeable or at least make it lethargic for longer than the few days it took to recover from the last molt. Bought it from a reputable local pet store that I'm pretty...
so i found this adorable bugger in some cut palm tree trunk that was lying around the bottom of a canyon that has lots of bushes, cacti, and trapdoor spiders. it's literally only a centimeter long (not including tail) and wasn't aggressive at all
and this one, i found walking in a storm...
was going to sex my cute 2in brachypelma albopilosum when i saw this. everything about him/her looks totally normal and he/she's eating normally (quick and feisty) but I'm just wondering what the heck this is? I've never noticed if there has ever been any injuries but last time it shedded was...
