    mother ate them all

In my limited experience, I have seen baby eating as a result of stress (remember, humidity and temp are not the only factors that count with stress levels) as well as partially formed babies, being consumed.

    Man killed by thai black?

While that thumb does look rather infected. I must say I bleed and react with more cytotoxic symtoms to bee venom as well as Uroplectes spp venom. I bruise on the sting site, as well as various spots while the venom travels, the sting site also blisters and peels. Often in the past when I have...

    Flat-rock sitings

H.Troglodytes are illegal to collect, keep, and export here. So that's probably one of the reasons. The fines are extremely high, even if some one reports you for killing one in your home, the fine is the same. Up to ZAR10 000 per specimen. As far as I know, only Buthidae species are not...

    Is it just ME?

Hey thanks for all the answers, I've kinda come off with a mixed conclusion, but: Some people get hot scorpions because they are hot, but that just means people get a species because of some trait of that species that interests them? So with that in mind, venom can be unpredictable in...

    Most interesting name

My first scoprion's name is "The great Kathunga" and I have one 3rd instar P.Transvaalicus who is always running about when I feed it, and charging my hand against the side of his bottle, so one day I decided he was "professor Satan."

    Is it just ME?

Is it just me, or do people seem to be interested in the more morbid ideas about scorpions? I mean, besides a die-hard or very serious collector, who would be interested in Leiurus quinquestriatus? Am I being pretentious or are most people who are interested in this species doing it because...

    did you know?

Dude, not to sound abrasive or cheeky, but that's starting to slide to the anal retentive side of acedemics. I understand that it may well lead to scientific results, but for end? So if a scorpion's core temperature reaches an certain height, neurons short, and it kills itself? That kind of...

    did you know?

Did you know, that I can't possibly understand how such a pointless topic has received three pages of replies? Did you know, that I can't even begin to understand why anyone would want to experiment or have interest in introducing a creature to a substance or situation that would induce...

first timer with some unanswered questions

Condensation is not what you need to be aiming for, this will encourage fungal/bacterial growth. Hydrometers can be rubbish, but try one, you need 75-80%. If the temp is right, and the substrate is moist, then there shouldnt be a problem.

    Questions

I have yet to own any south american species, however all my scorpions, I provide with elements which are found in their natural habitats, which in turn they have physical adaptaions to. Such as substrate which is burrowing friendly for my species which burrow, and rocks for those which are...
