    Citharischius crawahayi

Hi everyone. I have a 4 year old KB. My question is does anyone know roughly how long it takes a male to mature? I have no idea what sex it is, but I figured if it was male it might have matured already. I also know there is no way to sex it anyway at this point because 1) males lack tibial...

    peanut shell substrate

I don't understand why the shells of the peanuts would be salted anyway - you don't eat the shells or even put them in your mouth like you do sunflower seeds. Anyway, the mold test doesn't take very long. In fact, it's over. There's quite a bit of mold growing in the peanut shells after...

    peanut shell substrate

I'm trying to work out a good substrate mix for my C. crawshayi. I've been using coconut husk but her burrows keep caving in. I was thinking of mixing some peanut shells in there to give it some stability. Does anyone know if peanut shells are toxic or problematic otherwise. I'm testing it...

I get to bring my A. Crassicaudas back from Iraq!

Are you allowed to poke some ventilation holes in the container? If you put the scorpion between layers of paper towel it will limit the mechanical damage, but don't wet them, because the humidity might become a factor in a sealed container. Carry it on if you can.

    H. hottentotta communal??

Hi again. I was wondering if anyone has had good results keeping Hottentotta hottentotta communally. If so, how many did you keep together, what was the approx. size of the enclosure, and is there anything else I should know that I might not? Thanks everyone.

    molting question

Hi everyone. I have a question regarding molting in scorpions. Is it advisable to not feed them if they are going to molt soon? I know that you stop feeding snakes before they molt, but I have never heard anything about scorpions or spiders. I have some 2i Hottentotta hottentotta, two of...

    H. hottentotta life span?

Does anybody out there know the approximate life expectancy of Hottentotta hottentotta? I'm selling my babies and some people are asking how long they live and I don't really know. Thanks a lot.

    Hottentotta hottentotta

Hi. My H. hottentotta just gave birth. I just noticed today but it may have been several days since. They are all gathered on her back right now. I haven't been able to count them properly because she keeps moving around and they are tiny and moving also, but there must be at least a dozen...

    P. regalis feeding question

Hi everyone. My P. regalis has not been eating for some time. Ever since I got her, about 8 months ago, she has not been a good feeder. I have only offered crickets so far. There's not much else available where I am besides crickets and worms. Should I be concerned about this? I am...

    What is sp. used for?

Sabatta, looks like Pikaia answered most of your question, and who better to answer than the co-author of the best tarantula book available. In regards to whether a genus has a main species, I don't think that is a useful way of thinking about it. Rather think of each species within a genus...

    MM Pterinochilus

I have just realized that my orange baboon is a male. I don't have much experience with this and I have never actually seen the tibial spurs and bulbous pedipalps for myself, until today. Pretty cool. I though he seemed pretty active all of a sudden and he was placing small webs quite...

    King Baboon

Wow. This is a busy forum. I got 5 replies in 3 hours. Thanks to everyone who got back to me. I will leave it alone. That was my intuition, but I thought I'd ask around anyway. Another question about king baboons. How do you give them water. I know mine never comes to the surface, at...

    King Baboon

Hey people. This is my first post in these forums. They seem to be pretty busy compared to others, which is good to see. My question is about my juvi king baboon. It has sealed the entrance to its tunnel, meaning that I can't feed it. Should I just assume that when it is hungry it will...
