Not generally since the females mature much later. I hear that is that way to specifically prevent inbreeding
And inbreeding isn't as big of a deal with inverts... look at cockroaches for example
its not "potentially bad" if you have a modicum of common sense... hardest part? Humidity. Get/make a simple humidifier and you're golden. Next biggest issue? Feeding... Start up a roach colony and you're set.
I dont understand how they are labeled as "difficult". Yes, there are difficulties...
My LP has acted like a rosea at times, fasting and being a bump in general. She is healthy and growing well. As always, provide water and if her abdomen is plump, shes ok.
Stirmi are not as difficult as blondi. I dont think they are hard at all. I use a tank humidifier and cover the top. Temps are not that important. You could do it.
LPs are a favorite of mine. But also A. geniculata, B. emilia, and E. murinus... lots of great choices but what I like you might despise... take suggestions with a grain a salt.
its always risky... they are wild animals and can do anything they wish on a whim... it comes down to what is more valuable to you right now? 2 P. regalis or a couple hundred saved?
I am slightly worried about that too...
as far as height for arboreals, this is as high as many "smaller" enclosures... M. balfouri would be BOMB, but cost IS a bit of a factor. maybe H. incei..... there is no rush, this has just been a "for fun" tank....
ok I have a 55 with live plants and a mix of a roaches (B. dubia, A. tessalata, B. discoidalis, (B. latteralis, B. giganteus, and Gramphedorhina sp. possibly in the future) and a culture of "backyardopods".
I am looking to experiment. I want to do a P. regalis commune, based on the picture...
Yeah, don't be too hard on yourself. It happens, I had a C. schioedtei sling bolt because I was lax and not working in the bathtub during a transfer. As long as we learn from our mistakes, it's at least a partial win
"You will never see an escalator out of order sign. You only see escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience "
-The Great Mitch Hedberg.... he's from my neck of the woods.
For my arboreals, I use old bird food containers after the seed is gone. They are plastic containers about a gallon in size. (Same size and shape that Jon3800 uses for his pokies.
