I have always had troubles with ball pythons as they can be quite picky with their eating. I would recommend a male boa constricter, I have been keeping boas for 3 years now and I have never gotten bit, they're slow moving, fairly slow growing and males don't get TOO big.
I've personally always fed pre-killed mealworms to slings and have never had one refuse, now I have much less experience than many on the forums but I have had 16-17 slings so far (sold a few after I raised them up a few molts)
Actually they're naturally aggressive, even when bred in captivity when it's never known natural surroundings they are still aggressive, it's in their nature, they're apex predators among the inverts in their environment.
I have had both successful shipments and unsuccessful in the winter, however the unsuccessful were packed improperly, so it all has to do with the seller's experience in packing. SO weird that there's been multiple huge snow storms around the country and here in Michigan (where we usually get a...
I've strictly fed all of my inverts mealworms and have ALWAYS crushed the head due to warnings in the beginning. All of mine have always taken mealworms. 7 pedes, 13 T's and 3 scorplings. Just make sure you always crush the heads and it's safe.
Whenever I talk to me mother she always is telling me "Why do you torture your snakes in those storage bins?" (32qt bins for a 2.5 foot boa and a separate one for a colubrid) she can't comprehend that the snakes don't care and thinks it needs tons of space. I guess that's just human instinct to...
My mother stays out of my room because for some reason she developed hyper sensitivity to smell and thinks it smells horrible due to my monitor lizard (no one else notices it except her) and my father just doesn't care to further inspect any suspicious containers. I've been keeping various...
My first pedes were 3 rhysida longipes which I still have, raised them from just little babies and now I believe they're adult size. Now I have S. Alternans that are also very small and I very rarely see any of them. I have 5 pet holes I guess.
Personally I don't think 3 weeks is a crazy long time without food, I had a H. Arizonensis that didn't eat for 2 months and then started eating again. So I wouldn't be TOO worried just yet.
I'm having the same issue, except my T's are in my room, and they had infested my scorpling enclosure, so I removed the scorpling and put the whole thing in the microwave (it was a microwave safe container) and that killed them all in there but they're everywhere. I need to try the apple cider...
I'm a college student living with my parents and none of them know about any of my T's (currently have 6) I just have them tucked away in my room, (can't wait until I move out and can have them displayed)
I also agree, pet roaches are the best, I have "death's head roaches" that I raised from babies and it's quite rewards, they also grow quite fast. I'm actually going to be getting some more species, "RoachCrossing" offers some really good varieties, i'm lucky enough to have him located just 10...
Personally, I would move in with T's, what he doesn't know won't hurt him. I guarantee that he would likely say no if you asked, even explaining what they are.
Pretty sure i'm going now, I have allocated the funds and planning on going out for a few extra days because my GF hasn't seen Arizona yet so I figured it'd be worth it to make it a nice vacation!
