Misting schedules will vary...ambient humidity will vary...all of it...everything discussed will vary, with each individual spider and enclosure..Keep a lot of ventilation (not in the top) and a water dish, and you shouldn't need to worry much about conditions in the enclosure. Misting for...
You don't have to keep the substrate bone dry, nor do you need to just mist the web...plenty of ventilation and keep an appropriate sized water dish. There's no formula for it, because each enclosure is different. I mist when they're about to molt, once, and that's all. Don't put holes in the...
What does fear have to do with my statement? Please explain why you think so...something other then me hitting a nerve, I mean. You know, a rational, thought out response. You can do it! Don't let pride dumb down your answer.
I was tempted to tell you to get the free Poecilotheria, but if you aren't confident enough to get it without asking, don't. You'll most likely end up losing/killing it. That's my ONLY reason for saying so.
I think you would be very happy with an OBT as your next tarantula. As slings they are spastic and funny. As adults they're demonstrative and funny. They have lots of character. The fear filled responses you received are the usual nonsense that is spouted by supposed proponents of a magical...
Well people are different, and have differing opinions, for instance I love OBT's, others act like they have leprosy. I have a theraphosa stirmi (WC) I got at a pet store for 125 dollars...I spray half his cage and have to use a heat mat for temp requirements on one side of the cage. I bought a...
OBT's are an excellent beginner T. I'm a beginner, I have 8 of them, and have had no issues. Therefore what are you talking about? Please, tell us again why they aren't good beginner T's? Hardy? There is no hardier T. Gorgeous? One of the best looking ones imo. Do they bite? Yes. So do avics and...
I paid $65 dollars for a female A geniculata (about 6") from a breeder here on AB. I would not ever pay 135 for a common T, adult female or not. My recommendation is wait, and check the breeders here.
Catching up...B.boehmi sling, LD sling, 2 obt slings, h.lividium adult female, adult F LP (8" :) 2 versi slings all in last week or so. Just want to add I wish P. murinus kept the fuzzy blue sling legs into adulthood...poppin colors!
I think the most annoying thing about my T's is this : I was told my OBT's would be aggressive and generally scary. I bought eight of them, from slings to adults. They refuse to take over my city. WTF?
I feed my collection a mixture of crickets, dubias and superworms, for variety. Except the OBT's, those get stray neighborhood children. Because they're really terrible and nasty. Like pitbulls. And butterflies.
That doesn't sound too great, I hope it's better this time. You never know right? Or possibly thats just the hopeful addict talking.

Now I know the Deadly T Girl has some nice T's and breeds them, so I'll keep my fingers crossed :)...
