Unpacked 3 new slings today!
1/2" H. gigas
1/2" C. sp Vietnam Blue
1" A. geniculata
Super excited about them, they're already burrowing and webbing and doing T stuff
I received 3 slings from John. All are super lively and healthy! Packaging was great and he was super good about communicating, answering questions, and making sure I recieved what I wanted. Definitely knowledgeable and takes great care of his tarantulas! Very happy and will 100% order from him...
My stupid no good L. parahybana who is tearing this family apart.
Real answer: I don't think I particularly have a least favorite. As others have said there are a couple I'm disappointed I don't get to see as much as I would like, but they're happy being Ts and making their burrows so no real...
Mine all have Greek deity names. The scorpions have Roman deity names.
I don't talk to them in baby talk calling them by their names but naming them makes me happy
G. pulchripes is another great one! Have you looked into brachypelmas? They're a very colorful genus! I also am a fan of aphonopelma, personally.
For slings, they're really not so hard once you get the hang of it and get comfortable with it. I'd suggest starting out with a hardy sling like a...
I have a MM P. irminia, got him when he was like 2"?? I hoenstly don't remember but I'm definitely replacing him when he goes. Only one I've had but I gotta say I love the irminias so far.
Also have a little versi, about an inch, maybe an inch and a half. Had it for like a year. Don't think...
My second T was a L. parahybana! I still have her, got her at 1/2" and she's about 4" maybe?
Anyway, they're great Ts. Very hardy and very fun. I hope you enjoy yours!
No particular order...
1. T. stirmi. Tromps around at night, hisses at prey occasionally, stuffs 10 crix in their mouth at a time. Not particularly pretty or special, but I really enjoy mine.
2. N. chromatus. Gorgeous coloring, great feeding response, plays with ping pong ball.
3. A. hentzi...
So possibly final update! I ended up not going out of town and I am currently hanging out with the scorpions and pulling babies as they come off her back. So far have six very lively little fellers. Mother is being very cooperative.
Also, pretty sure they're H. spinifers.... After some further...
So update! One fell of mothers back and I put it in an "icu" of sorts. Well today I came back and he's molted into 2i! Also noticed some on mothers back have molted, not all, but 2 or 3.
Here's my next question: I'm leaving town tomorrow, I will be back Sunday night. Will the babies be fine...
Another question regarding the scorplings... When I separate them and give them their individual enclosures, would something with the dimensions 4" across and 1.5" deep work? Is that too big or too small?
Good morning all,
As the title says, about a year ago I bought a petsmart scorpion as a rescue. It was sold as an Emperor Scorpion, but considering it was bright green under a light, after some research I decided to just call it a H. longimanus (I could definitely be wrong.)
Anyway, the actual...
I've given a few of my more active Ts a ping pong ball and occasionally I see my A. seemani have it against the wall and just endlessly roll it. I call it cardio
Hello there! Thought I'd share some picture of my B. smithi molting upright. She's molted in my care before but I didn't catch it. From the time her carapace popped to her legs pulling out took about an hour, she's around 3 1/2"
I've lost a sling once while unpacking and in my experience he didn't go too far from where he originally took off. He stayed huddled there the entire time. Maybe it being an unfamiliar place it's too scared to really go roaming? I don't know how your room is but it could tucked in the corner...
I have too. When I was first researching it I thought 'sling' was a name for baby tarantulas as 'foal' is a name for baby horses. Kinda interesting to find out it's actually a slang term
