Stunning pictures again Tom, and a stunning collection.
as for your Deinopis, it definetly needs another molt, my mature male looked alot different, they grow huge, as do the pedipalps.
good luck with the breeding attempts.

Niek
Wow, thanks for that informastion Tom, didn't even know that, but makes sense, davidbowie looks nothing like some other Thelcticopis species i've seen around.
yeah, Peter jaeger revisioned it. in around 2007 i believe (around that time).
theres a scientific paper online regarding it, but Peter jaeger also has a facebookpage where someone asked him, and he explained why he renamed the species after the singer.

Niek
when did this turn from a topic about venomous arachnids into a debate about wether or not people should have children from a certain age.
goddammit, back to the topic.
dear @darkness975 ... the last thing we want to do, is live as cavemen and hide our (dangerous) animals from our local...
Phoneutria are definitely not the most venomous, they pack a punch, yes, but a spider that causes (only counting the documented) a couple of deaths for every several hundred bite cases, of wich only a couple needed/got antivenom treatment, i wouldn't call them the most venomous spider.
Sicarius...
i'll get pictures later, but 2 days after the creation of the first sac, the female was on the prowl again (well, on the wait, would be better to describe her behavior :) ) she was eating continuously, never have i seen a spider eat so much after dropping a sac... but this one was unstoppable...

The most venomous spider is the one that bit you, good luck with trying to survive a Sicarius bite and suffer the consequenses.
you have...
Approximately 4 weeks ago i received an adult male Deinopis sp. Cameroon from a buddy of mine.
after 3 days i introduced him to the female, and they just wandered about a bit.
2 days passed and the male lied dead on the ground in the casting net from the female, which had a nice big abdomen :3...
sorry, i was misstaken... indeed, Mamfe Road is in Cameroon... however i believe this species was given the name '' gold nigeria'' earlier on, thats why i thought it was from Nigeria... most Araneomorphe are collected from Cameroon right now with African shipments...
Cupiennius species (and a lot of other Ctenidae that are difficult to ID properly without a lot of info to be found) have a very potent neurotoxin... for their prey, its well known nowadays that the only Ctenidae with potent venom are those of the Phoneutria genus, and because of a lack on info...
Phoneutria fera 1.0 (now dead, mated) crazy growers, from 2 inch to 5 inch in 2 months
Heteropoda tetrica with cocoon
