    Scorpion From Guatemala

Haven't posted in a while but I thought I would share an image of a scorpion I found while flipping over rocks and logs in the jungles around Tikal in Guatemala. I didn't have the best equipment for photography by chance, but this image should help id the specimen. The average length of these...

    Scorps From Egypt

The color varieties are amazing. The scorpion in my first image has very yellow tones and a deep brown/black band before the telson, which is the lightest golden yellow I have ever seen on one of these. Some of the others have almost a greyish-yellow tone to the legs.

    Scorps From Egypt

To bring them back you just place them in glass bottles with damp paper. They sell pretty glass bottles in Egypt and I buy tons of them for gifts. They are all taped together and packed in a big mass so customs just looks at them in their entirety, not taking them apart, jar by jar. The scorps...

    Scorps From Egypt

The black LQ types are very rare and I seldom ever see them. I spend 4 months a year at least in Egypt and I look for them. I have seen more cobras and vipers than those black types. The arencolas are my favorite and I did not come up with a single one this time. Here are images of a fat-tail I...

    Scorps From Egypt

The scorpion I am holding had a badly damaged telson and could not sting. I had some pictures taken of it, but this is the only one which came out clear. It must have been attacked by a predator and escaped. This type is easy to find, but the black ones of the same type are very difficult to...

    Scorps From Egypt

Here is the habitat this guy came from. They love the ancient mud bricks as they retain warmth at night and stay cool during the day. They come from the interior of this ruined Pyramid near Dashur. If you flip mudbricks over you find them for sure, but only at a rate of 2 or 3 every half hour in...

    Scorps From Egypt

Hello All, I just returned from a long stay in Egypt and managed to get a few pictures of the scorpions I was catching. As it is cooler there now, they are much harder to come by than in the summer months. Let me know what you all think and what types you think they may be. Kelly These...

Oldest Scorps we've ever cared for

I was just thinking about the lifespans of the various scorp types and thought it would be interesting to hear about the scorpions the list members have kept the longest. As I stated in a previous post I had kept a B. arenicola which lived for about 7 1/2 years. That is the longest for me...

    Elderly Scorpion Finally Expired

Elderly Scorpion has expired Thanks for the words. It is funny how we treat these animals that others step on. I replaced the old scorp with a new arenicola from the same site, calling her Karanise II. That ought to do for her, she even get the red dot on the back for old time's sake. Kelly

List, Been out of the country for awhile and returned last week. Brought some nice scorps back from Egypt as always. Unfortunately today my favorite B. arenicola expired. She was in the first batch of scorps I bought in from Egypt 7 years ago this December, and then she was 1" long. I...

    My P. boreus youngster

He is only 5/8" long, but is growing very quickly. The desert types love to hide under pieces of terracotta. They hold water longer than most things by absorbtion so if you mist over the pieces once a week and have the top sealed save for some vents, there is always a place for them to find...

    A death in the family

John, I am sorry to here your friend passed. All the best. I lost one of my little L.Q.s for some reason this morning and it has me a bit saddened, it was so young. Also one of my favorite B. arenicolas died last weekend, I think of old age as she was approx. 6 years old. It is hard for...
