+1 - I think some of us have no idea about the mechanics of building of a house and continually speak of it in dire needing of a renovation.
Stan is a scholar and a true hero of the T keeping pioneers, he is the T architect that engineered and build the T keeping house that many of us still live...
Tarantula Kepper's Guide A.K.A "TKG"!!
A four book boxed set - I want mine autographed :)
Not easy to script - research and write an instructional book - I don't care what the others say about his TKG needing updating - to me Stan symbolizes the true Hero of T keeping and brought...
OP - i hope you may have the same resolve never to abuse your Ts for the sake to amuse at the expense of a pet that depends on you 100% for its well being - If you think you have been verbally tortured/abused as opposed to being nurtured you should perhaps spare a thought before you post your...
I did, in fact if you read your own post I asked where your bite site was. I wasn't being rude - blunt maybe - to people who are irresponsible have no business keeping Ts - they only give the hobby a bad reputation.
I had a delivery of A sp Cana Blue - 1st instars 2 months ago - a new blue Aphonopelma from Mexico
My A Moderatum slings are "difficult" to care for compared to other species.
Bicoloratum & Mooreae are on my watch list.
My 2 juveniles are kept 7" of dirt/zoo med clay - 1 is in an opaque container - the other is in a clear transparent tub - the one in the opaque container rarely plugs the burrow whereas the one in clear glass almost always has the burrow plug. Not sure if this has anything to do with the...
Increasing the temp and humidity will shorten the molt cycle process significantly - no harm trying if you have a T that appears to be "caught" in a limbo - off feed in premolt but not molting. I have about 85 slings of various species kept with same conditions - I experimented with 30 slings...
+1 = it has worked for other dry scrubland species - eg the brachy mex red legs genre when I see their bald abdomens blacken I wait about 2 weeks and heavily mist their enclosures which will almost always induce the bald black spots to become shiny, followed up with a slight increment of temp...
I started keeping Ts with them, kept warm and well fed they molted an average every 40-50 days - its difficult to view them pre molt when they are burrowed and the entrances are plugged up. I normally wait 10-14 days and let their enclosure dry out completely following which I will heavily mist...
Great information & learning. There's a NGC news report relating to this selective diet - and am intending to get Stephen Simpson's book - thank you Hanska.

Does periodic removal of T's soiled webbing stresses them?
I do it quite often for my Pokies whose webbing have become filthy, sometimes it has bolus or cricket parts stuck to it. I have notice some of the Ts stop rebuilding, am sure it expends a good deal of their energy reserves.
Other...
I agree but I do wonder if truth really serves a purpose - sometimes its the journey that enriches our soul, the destination might sometimes disappoint.
biased. LOL If men were responsible for child bearing, the human race would have died out centuries ago.
- it seems we are finally agreeing on something - i wouldn't want anything bigger than an egghead tearing out from any of my bodily cervices - so kudos to all the women-mums in the world...
Very true that I have no inkling what where you have been through because I have no interest in what goes in your own little world. I don't think Formerphobe needs you to defend or speak on her behalf, she seems strong and balance enough to speak her thoughts.
The fact that you choose to block...
