I have a subadult theraphosa stirmi with two brokenfangs. She grabs and kills her prays but leave them a few minutes later without eating them as there's no way to inject the venom.
The thing is how to make her survive until next molt.
I tried to give her several different things to eat such...
I want to apologize in advance for the terrible picture quality. This sling is in the range of about 1" and my phone tells me I'm too close and wants me to back up to zoom in.
A few months ago I purchased one of my dream tarantulas, Aphonopelma burica
When I got it home I observed incessant...
I posted here a few weeks ago about my B. hamorii who seemed to have gotten her fangs stuck in a molt. I fed her a cricket yesterday, and my fears were confirmed as she struggled to hold on to the cricket and eventually the cricket escaped.
I killed the cricket and opened its exoskeleton up a...
...I've fed my other tarantulas and there are no signs of digestion yet, (12 hours later) but she's still holding on to it. Could it be a case of brokenfangs? I'm worried about her because her abdomen isn't very large but obviously she's not eating and it could be a good while before her next...
Hi folks, I'm new here and would appreciate the advice. My T. Stirmi molted a while back, she broke the tips of her pedipalps but to be honest she looked good. I thought her fangs were OK...normally she goes mental for food but she was striking but then backing off. When she gave a threat pose...
so i recently rescued a P. Irminia from a local pet store that has NO business being In business. i just attempted to feed her a dubia, which she wrestled with for quite a while, and then dropped it. she then picked it back up and the same thing happened. so i got out the flashlight to get a...
Hello Arachnoboards!
It's been a while since I have posted. I am the 3rd grade teacher who took in a class pet GBB sling around a year ago. Azul, our GBB, has been doing great and the students really enjoy watching he/she eat and taking notes on the tarantula's behavior. It has went through 2...
Unfortunately my old adult male A. chalcodes broke his fangs at some point, I just noticed it because he wasn't able to pierce a locust. That's the first time I've ever given him locust, before that it was Dubias and bigger crickets. Is it a common thing for fangs to get brittle with age?
He is...
My pink salmon bird eater who is 1+ year old broke off both its fangs.... heard a cracking sound while feeding my other t's. Looked over and saw it putting fangs through lid and they broke off... will it be ok?? I've had many types of tarantulas over the past 8 years. Only had this happen once...

Hi everybody. I know that there's not really much to do about this, but I was pretty upset to see the other day that my sub-adult female Lasiodora klugi was weirdly "mouthing" a cricket, without the cricket become obviously punctured of mashed up. She eventually killed it, but spent a long...
I have a female L.parahybana around 7 to 8" and i have her in a tank with a perspex seperator in the middle, i noticed a few times she climbs up and holds on to the top of the seperator as there is a tiny gap between that and the glass lid of the tank.
Then i noticed one time she was putting...
Hi all. I bought a 4" long Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans "Red Leg" today. Problem is, because these pedes are sold here as food for fish, the chelicerae (fangs) have been deliberately broken at the tips. Will moulting solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
I purchased a female G. Rosea as my first tarantula about 3 months ago, and everything has gone great so far. She was quite large when I purchased her, and now is approximately 5". The owner of the small aquarium shop said she had molted 3 times already, as she had been in his possession for...

Hello,
My T blondi had a bad molt a while back and I didn't notice until I saw him pacing around the cage a lot. I've been trying to feed him as much as possible. He's kindof skinny so we'll see what happends.
I've been popping the heads of wax worms or super worms and squeezing the contents...
Ok I have been keeping T's for a while...........But recently I have witnessed my smithi's climb up to the lid which happens to be steel screen, and they bite at it like they are trying to break out. This has resulted in two of my T's breaking one fang. They both still eat fine and one is now in...
sometime ago my blondi molted (shes 4/5 inches) she had perfect fangs but ive reciently noticed that she has broke her fangs, will she grow them back on next molt?
thank you for replyies
Well, one of my very recently molted P. nigricolors has somehow managed to break her fangs. I went to give her a pinkie as her first post-molt meal and I saw her trying to bite, but no penetration. The pinkie just crawled out from under her without a scratch.
I have had this happen once before...
