Time for noms!

Male and female green june beetle (Cotinis nitida). The female laid eggs, and they started hatching about a week ago. I'm keeping some larva and giving a few to a friend, but the majority of the grubs will probably be released where they won't be killed by anyone using backyard lawn treatments
These green fuzzy guys have a special place in my heart. Hordes of them used to buzz around the fig trees. For some reason, Cotinis no longer hatch near me; I blame pesticides.

@LawnShrimp They're quite beautiful. These two are actually the first and only ones I've seen in person. A friend of my boyfriend apparently gets them every year in his backyard and he was willing to save these two for me that he confirmed were mating earlier in the day. If I could figure out whether they're regulated or not by APHIS, I'd be willing to ship you some if interested, but unfortunately their website has always proven difficult for me to maneuver, so I can't figure out if they have any shipping regulations for this species

@ShyDragoness Thanks! :)

@soldierof4cheese I think the brown ones are cute in their own right. Lol. I'm feeding them a fruit jelly people often feed to their pet beetles of all types. I give them real fruit on occasion, but the jelly doesn't mold and seems to attract less mites, so I prefer it
