Love the use of items to make the enclosure, it's one of a kind . And sadly I wish people were more creative in this way, but if I did a design like this. Then I would get nothing but criticism .
@Liquifin A little experimentation is fine (within limits). Otherwise, our husbandry knowledge would never grow, and we’d still be keeping Avics in moist enclosures and wondering why we kept losing them to “sudden Avic death syndrome.”
In this case, I decided to try an elevated horizontal log to make feeding easier. (My first tarantula, an elderly female Avic, lived in a vertical cork, and if the cricket fell to the ground, which it often did, it was a pain to recapture and re-drop.)
She has been thriving in this enclosure for three years, so I’ll call it a success.
@mazzzz The black things are foam tubes. I wrapped them around the support sticks in places where a jagged end was pointing straight up (so that she would not impale herself in the event of a fall).
@BladeGypsy It’s a Command soap dish (Walmart # 552371875). The mount sticks to glass, and you can lift and remove the dish for cleaning. (You just need to block the drainage hole in the bottom.) I like these dishes, because they are elevated, which Avics seem to be more likely to find, and they allow drinking from multiple positions.
