Rabidosa santrita

Endemic to the Santa Rita mountain range in southern arizona, this species of wolf spider is found around moist habitat and grass, being replaced in the drier areas by R punctulata.

Often seen walking across water or hanging on branches over water, they use it to escape terrestrial threats.
Gorgeous wolf spider! :) The stripes look similar to those of the Rabidosa rabida found around here but the abdomen appears rounder.

Oh, and FYI, santrita happens to be a sister species of rabidosa, as such these could be considered western rabid wolf spiders :p
