P. vittata

My big girl Elvira out for a midnight stroll. She's over 7 inches DLS, and rarely shows herself to anyone. I always feel a bit priviledged when she casually lets me see her:)
@DeTwan Yup! And pictures can only capture so much of that purple. Some angles, it DID look black and white. I was shining a light from different angles to try to show that color, while she was being unusually cooperative. Typically, she scurries off at the first sign of light.

Nice! Why is it that I see pics of some P. vittata that look almost black and white like yours and others that look brownish? My 5" vittata looks brown and boring almost identical to my P. formosa. Possible different color form?

@Kevin0610 Well, it could be the lighting. This spider definitely has a brownish tinge under certain lights. I like using a bright white LED when I take photos of my T's. I find better contrast that way. Also, I've found that having lights come from different angles can make a huge difference. The flash straight from a camera tends to flatten everything, while an offset light adds dimension. Do you have any shots of your vittata on here?

Photos like this really show off why I love this species so much. Great work!

@CWilson1351 Thank you! She's such a photogenic spider. Probably my favorite in my collection because of her size and relatively easy temperament. She rarely comes out. But sometimes I'll walk by and see her strolling around, and my heart still flutters when I see her:) I'll never get used to it!
