M. balfouri

I had a runner today. He/she was none too happy about being wrangled up.
Beautiful T - I want this species so bad. But right now is probably not right for me on OW's or a communal. I need to make a few slings get bigger first.

@Thistles Yep, turns out you and @Blue Jaye were right. I was going to separate them, and instead I found three fat, angry baboons.

@Jeff23 Honestly man, this is hardly an OW attitude. They're skittish, that's it. Most of my NW's are more of a handful. If it weren't for the price, I'd suggest them as a beginner OW species.

What if someone buys a couple of them as females and tries to create a communal that starts small. Will this work or do you need to use T's from the same egg sac? Can you slowly build a communal by adding to it? I don't want to deal with the breeding while I am still green.

I'm guessing that introductions would need to occur with both T's having full stomachs and with both new to the enclosure to make it less of a risk.

@Jeff23 All three of mine are sacmates, but they were separated when I bought them. The two females were living in one enclosure, and the male was by himself. They acclimated perfectly fine, but again, they are sacmates.

As for the details of a successful communal, I'll leave that to @Thistles :p The only reason I have this picture is because I didn't believe things were going very well so I tore it apart.

@EulersK Thanks. I probably need to research them more as well. I have basically been loving the pics but not reading all of the details about them in some of the forum threads. Their costs have pushed me toward other desirable T's instead. But I am now almost at my max on NW T's that I want (and can obtain).

@Jeff23 Yeah, if you're looking at getting to OW's, M. balfouri is a great option. Probably the best option IME. Plenty of sellers right now, too. C. darlingi is another good one, but it's a pet hole and will bite if provoked enough, but will usually head for its hole when disturbed.

I've only kept family members together, but that includes younger slings that have grown up with their adult half-siblings. I have never added any strangers other than MMs, but I have heard of people who have. I know of one failure in that sort of extra familial introduction. I think the best chance for success is to buy sacmates, but it may not be necessary.
