Females will keep their color, males will slowly turn brown, starting at around 4".

@Venom1080 I have a 6 inch female and she doesn't have her color until you hit her with a flashlight, but you can clearly see the color on this one, and is just shy of 4"

@Throneberry yes, that's what I meant.. once hit with a torch they are amazing. Next molt will tell for sure. You'll know it if you see it.
