A vicious centipede by all accounts, and probably my favorite individual centipede. It never hesitates to kill and eat. Jules is getting kinda fat even on a cricket/morio a week... If it turn out that it is actually a Julia and she has eggs... oh boy.
This species hasn't officially been described yet so for now it's Scolopendra sp Guangxi, aka mint leg aka green dragon. Most likely a subspinipes variant. I just got myself a pedeling one of these and it does seem pretty hyper, then again most pedelings of Asian species are. Grows to 25cm apparently.
@Scoly Jules is a little under 18 cm right now, maybe longer as it can stretch and contract. I was hoping that this wasn't maximum size! Does your pedeling display any juvenile coloration or is it the same maroon/teal/cream that the adults are?
@LawnShrimp I've reliably heard they grow to 25cm, which is of course not to say each one will. The pedelings have exactly the same colouring as adults, just lighter and brighter. I think I remember reading somewhere that subspinipes are born with adult colours, whereas dehaani change in colour (or is that the wrong way round?)
And if you think mint legs have a bad temper, you should see me trying to transfer a photo I took of it earlier today from my iPhone to my laptop, I've been trying for a good 45 minutes and I'm the most tech savvy person I know.
Poor centipedes are cowering in the corners of their cages and if my gf was here I'd probably be dumped
