Killapede

This is a larviform female glow worm beetle. Phengodes arizonensis, it completely obliterated a millie twice its size.
My god that’s a massive larvae!!!$&:astonished:
No idea they are millipedes but not suprized!!! Is it biggest larvae!!?!
Awsome colors too:alien

@Ultum4Spiderz females remain larva stage but grow and molt to adult size in that form, males become soft bodied beetles when they reach adulthood. They run down the prey millipede and initiate a wrestling match until they have a firm grasp on the underside of the millipedes head and they bite through its central nerve rendering it paralyzed it then drags it down into its burrow and consumes it. :cigar::vamp:

@RezonantVoid the feelin is mutual lol my buddy who collected this for me and my heros actually was not planning to sell this thing, but when i saw it in the haul from his trip to AZ i immediately had to have it. I then soon learned it requires millipedes as its diet, and I'm kind of hoping this female is gravid because i would like to try and raise up some young. Information on these isn't super easy to find but from what i understand the small nymphs feed on snails before they can take down millipedes.
