A. Avicularia Hanging Molt

  • BMQ
My approx 5in female A. Avicularia molted while hanging from one leg. Anybody ever experience this? Confused the crap out of me lol. She's fine though. Molt went smoothly.
@WolfSoon no, I don't think so. I think she purposely anchored herself with her claws so that she wouldn't fall while molting. I've never had a t get stuck in mesh before. I hope this wasn't the case. She's fine though luckily either way. Blew my mind though.

My avics always - always - molt in their web tubes.

Glad to hear she made it though.

@BMQ I’m glad to hear she’s fine too. :) There are posts on here from members whose Ts got stuck dangling from mesh, so I was just wondering if this was one of those cases. I wouldn’t think any T would molt in that position on purpose, but maybe she’s a super ninja. :robot: Yeah, either way, glad it worked out!

@BC1579 mine too. This scared the crap outta me lol. Anytime a t molts in any position other than flat on its back I get nervous lol.

@WolfSoon oh really, I may change that mesh then. Yea I was dumbfounded and for a crazy split second thought about helping her down. Of course I didn't but boy did I want to lol.

@BMQ Did you get to watch the whole molting process like that? That must’ve been nerve wracking for sure. I can’t even stand to watch my spiders molt in a normal position. Lol. It sounds like you did the right thing not trying to help. :)
