Kochiana brunnipes - 2"

The last time I saw this tarantula, they were 1/4". It's been close to a year. If you're looking for a dwarf species that you can see sometimes - don't choose this one.
I take it prey was disappearing during that time but you did not see them until now? An astonishing amount to grow without once being seen! :wideyed:

@ErinM31 Yes, prey disappeared and moults would appear in return. I keep detailed moult records and for these two all I have is 'Sometime in <insert month>'. I still haven't seen the other one - I lucked out with this one. There were times that I questioned whether they were still alive even, but then a moult would be out for pickup and I relaxed again.
I would shine the penlight down the hole each time I fed and watered and, if I was lucky, I would maybe glimpse a foot. I never knew if it was a real foot or a moult being taken out gradually.
Thanks @cold blood. :)

@VanessaS I admire your patience and restraint in not excavating them! I know of course that one should not but after so many months, I would be sorely tempted! :embarrassed::embarrassed::bag:
