Sprayed this guy while at work on accident in a flower bed. (Pest control)
I've never seen a spider like this here in houston, I know we can get the texas tan Alittle north of Houston. I've had other techs tell me they have seen them, But this is jet black.
This little guy looks to be an Ummidia species (family Ctenizidae). They are common all over Texas and the males make their appearance about this time in the year through fall. One usually won't find females because they are trapdoor spiders and the females are very well hidden in the soil.
