Ok .....Nhandu coloratovillosus or Nhandu Chromatus. I would go with chromatus but it's hard to tell at that size. Nhandu coloratovillosus are more "fluffy" (more setae), however, I'm not sure what coloratovillosus look like as slings because I've never owned one that small but I know that it makes a big difference when species of the same genus can look alike as slings. I vote Nhandu Chromatus on it.....
I got him at a show about 6 months ago. He was labeled Nhandu Chromatus / Brazilian Black and White (May be called Nhandu coloratovillosus instead of Brazilopelma Colloratvillosum). When I asked the seller which one he really was, they had no idea. They said they weren't the actual breeders.
@Flexzone Are you sure? He's really awesome. He loves to eat and he sits out on top of his hide like he's showing off. He's also molted 3 times in 4 months.
Funny, they said it was chromatus, and gave you the common name for coloratovillsus (yes, its a Nhandu)...foolish sellers...this is why its critical for both sellers and buyers to be aware of scientific names and not rely on junk useless common names...bad seller IMO (reptile dealer??)
All Nhandu have that ridiculous feeding response and both share the same rapid growth rates...and both tend to be visible most of the time.
The other pic I thought colorat...this one, which really isn't too differrent, looks more chromatus.
Long term, if its a female, chromatus gets larger....but it should be really obvious in a few molts.
N. chromatus, they're awesome, they have an insane feeding response (I've seen mine make some crazy kills) and they grow like weeds (got mine as a 1cm freebie in August and it's over 2" now), mine is out quite often but bolts for its hide at the slightest disturbance, hasn't kicked hairs at me yet.
@The Grym Reaper He has grown fast! He was about 1/2 inch when I got him, now he's at least 1.5 in just 4 months. I wish my other two slings would grow faster. I've got a B. smithi that's about 1/4 inch and an avic versi that's about one inch. I've had them since Jan. 4th, the avic has molted once, but the B. smithi has not.
@frodogecko I got a 2cm versicolor sling at the same time as my N. chromatus and it's about 2" now, their growth rate isn't too bad. B. smithi's are slow growers, I opted for a juvenile female and it's moulted once in the 6 months I've had it although it seems to have been in heavy premoult for ages lol.
