Aragorn

This is Aragorn, he's still a baby, about 1.5". Everyone seems to think he's a Nhandu chromatus.
@The Grym Reaper I don't know why my versi isn't growing very fast. What were you feeding yours when it was small? I've been giving mine headless crickets and fruitflies. Last night I tried a live pinhead cricket for the first time. He showed no interest.

Versi are very good eaters right out of the gate, you shouldn't need to do anything but drop in small crickets and let them hunt....fruit flies are nutrient deficient and not a good staple feeder.

How is it housed? Does it have good cover? Has it made a web tube?

@cold blood He's in a deli container with nothing but substrate. I had a nice piece of cork bark in there, but he never used it. He likes to hang out at the top of the container. He has made a small web, but nothing elaborate, not any kind of tube like my larger avics. When I first got him he was too small to give live crickets to, so I gave him headless crickets. Last night was the first time I tried a live pinhead. He ignored it.

Ok, I'll put the cork bark back in and some leaves. Mine is still pretty small so I'm afraid to leave a live cricket in there. Can't the cricket kill my spider?

Avics are unique in that they seal themselves in off the ground when they molt....so they really aren't the danger they can be with others. The cricket can only hurt the t if its molting.

@frodogecko I fed it pre-killed crickets every 3 days up until it was over an inch then fed it live size 2 crickets every 3-5 days up until it hit 2", mine would only refuse food when in premoult.

As mentioned above, don't bother with fruit flies, I started breeding mealworms recently and use the tiny ones for small slings now.

I'd suggest using a piece of cork bark that's only 2/3 - 3/4 the height of the container and keep any leaves you might add to the same height and below, this discourages them from webbing right up by the lid.

@cold blood rapid growth rate EXCEPT when you're sitting on 1i slings for 3 months waiting for them to molt into 2i :banghead: urgh (should've increased my temps in my T room, lol).

@Casey K
With versi? Ive literally never seen growth like that...even my slower growing avic avics are all 2" by the 6 or 7 month mark.

My little versi always molt every 30-40 days.

I assume theyre in a warm incubator. I had that happen with my first avic hatch, but it was because i wasnt using an incubator.:(

@cold blood oh no....Nhandu Chromatus.....Lol. I thought you were talking about rapid growth with Nhandu, lol....My fault. I need to go back & read it again. :banghead::rofl:
